" Juliet, Cariño! I could hear the quiet sweep of my maid's feet as she burst through my door, calling me 'darling' in Spanish.
"Yes?"
"Get dressed! Something very beautiful! Today very important!" She ran straight into my closet, trying to find a decent outfit.
"What are we doing today?"
" Your father say you meet handsome man today, Juliet. He say he thinks you could be a couple."
"Woah... Um, I'm not really looking for a boyfriend right now.. " I looked in the mirror and thought about me kissing another man, loving another man, or even marrying another man. I couldn't do that. Even though Romeo and I aren't 'official' I will stay true to him.
"Just think about it, eh?"
Without a reply, I snatched up the dress she had picked out for me and went into my changing room. I slipped out of my comfy pj's and into the flowy dress. I'm fairly thin so most dresses are baggy but this dress flit me like a glove. I would much rather put this dress on to visit Romeo rather than this unknown match my dad has picked out for me.
An hour later, I had somehow got trapped into a 'date' with the man my dad set me up with. We weren't supposed to go out together but my dad insisted on it. I tried to say no, but my efforts were no good.
".. And I do some modeling in LA. Such a wonderful city. Maybe I could take you there one day. Juliet? Are you even listening?"
"Oh. Yeah. Sorry, just kinda zoned out..."
"So Juliet, what do you like to do as a passtime?" William said. That's the guy's name.
"Uh... I like to write. And play music." My hand pulled on the hem of my dress awkwardly.
"Really? Me too. I just adore the piano. Such an lovely sound. Kind of like your voice." His hand reached down close to mine. His fingers slid in between mine. I tried to pull away but his grip on my hand stayed firm. He turned his head towards me and gave me a weary smile.
What is he doing? He knows I'm not into him! His grip was starting to actually hurt.
"William... Please let go. You-You're hurting me." A tear silently made its way down my face. William turned a corner to an empty alley way, pulling me with him. I turned toward him and started to tell him to stop but before I could he shoved me up against the wall. My head hit the brick with a loud crack. I could feel something liquidy sliding down the back of my head and onto my neck. He put his hands on my shoulders and looked me dead in the eye.
"Look, I know you don't like me. I don't like you either, you little brat. But everyone knows you're the best girl in town so I will have you. And you can either accept it and move on or you can sulk and get more of what just happened. Okay?"
"Okay." My voice wavered and tears fell rapidly from my face to the floor. A pounding wave of pain bounced around in my head, demanding to be felt.
"Wipe your face." He tossed me a black cloth. I dabbed at the corners of my eyes and walked up to face him.
"Ready to go... Sweetie?" William gave me a sinister smile and continued to drag me all the way to his car.
I was dizzy by the time we got to my driveway. He opened the door for me and led me to the front porch. Right as he saw my mom coming to answer the door, he placed his hand on the back of my head, leaned in, and planted his cold, hard lips on mine. After the kiss, he pulled his hand away. He looked... Freaked out. William was staring down in fear at the blood that had coated his hand. I heard my mom yell for dad. Almost immediately I could hear my father thumping his way down the stairs and down to the porch. William looked at me. Mom screamed. My knees buckled. I slumped into William's shoulder. And that's all I remember.
