"Juliet! Juliet? Wake up, Juliet!"
My eyes rustily opened themselves. Morning light shone through the curtains and spilled into my room. Jenna was sitting on top of my stomach, clearly forgetting that I got out of the hospital just two days ago. It took most of my strength and all of my patience to shove her off of me and onto the floor. I gave her an effortless groan and rolled over.
"Okay, you asked for it, sweetheart." I heard the pitter patter of her feet sweep across the floor.
That's not good . I should honestly really get up now. Last time this happened she dumped a carton of sour milk on my head. Yeah, I didn't go to school for a week. Much less go anywhere near civilization.
I grabbed the first things my hands felt and changed in to them. Quite my luck, I ended up in some very long sweatpants and a black tank top. My house had two flights of stairs so I had to take a break in the middle. I couldn't quite catch my breath ever since I nearly drowned. The view from the middle of the stairs is gorgeous. You can see a background of beautiful, snowy, deserted mountains and an untouched pond in the middle of two mountains.
I stretch my arms out real wide and wipe the sleepiness from my eyes. Suddenly, there's a warm hand on my shoulder. Scared it might be Jenna and her sour milk, I don't turn around.
"Juliet."
Now I whip around and wrap my arms around him. I take in his smell and hug him tighter. I haven't seen him in four days! It's about time he came to visit me!
"Romeo!" My voice is muffled because my face is buried is his shoulder.
I stand on my tip toes and he holds my head in his hands. Our foreheads are pressed together and our breaths are mixed. He looks into my big brown eyes with his captivating blue ones. We stay like that until he just bursts out in a loud laughter.
"Why are you here?" I ask, suddenly realizing the fact that my mom will be here in two hours. And I also forgot that I looked like a sloth threw up on my head.
"I thought that maybe we could go out on a date?" He looked at the floor while he was talking but when he got done he looked up at me with pleading eyes that I don't think I could say no to.
"While I look like this?!" I said, surprised by his question.
"I'll fix you up, sweetheart." Jenna said, climbing the stairs and smiling sweetly.
Romeo looked at me and plastered the biggest smile on his face I've ever seen.
"Hi, I'm Jenna, Juliet's best friend." She outstretched her hand for him to shake.
"Romeo. Juliet's soon-to-be boyfriend." He shook her hand and gave me a quick wink.
With that, Jenna grabbed my arm and dragged me into my room.
I swear I changed 32 times that day.
First, it was some designer jeans from Paris and a fuchsia sweater. Then, it was a pair of white jeans and a bright pink blazer. She finally settled on a white dress that came down to my knees with some pink flats. She did my makeup and put my hair up into a romantic bun with face framing curls. I wasn't sure if Romeo would think it was too much or what.
When she was finally done we went down stairs together. Romeo was bent over on the railing looking out the window. Jenna cleared her throat to get his attention. I punched her in the gut for being so rude. I could've just tapped him on the shoulder. She shoved me back, gave me my purse, and then slowly backed out of the room, leaving Romeo and I alone.
"H-Hi." I blushed and walked down the stairs.
"Um. Wow..." He looked shocked.
"I told her it was too much! Ugh, I'll go change." I turned around but he grabbed my arm before I could run up the stairs.
"No... I think it's... Perfect." He smiled and put his hands on both sides of my head. He looked into my eyes then leaned in to kiss me.
And it was the best kiss ever.
When we finally did pull away, he smiled breathlessly and tugged me out to his car.
We drove for over two hours laughing and sharing our life stories. Mortifying and thrilling both. He pulled into an abandon parking lot in the middle of a wide and grassy park. He opened the door for me then popped the trunk and got a picnic basket out. We walked for about a mile until we found the perfect spot. Together, we laid out the blanket and got the food out of the basket. He surprised me with a single red rose and a red velvet cupcake. Weird thing was, red velvet was my favorite...
Even though he brought food, we didn't eat.
We laid there and gazed at the clouds, trying to make shapes out of them.
"Hmm. I think that one looks like... A circle." I looked at him and burst into laughter at my incapability to come up with a better shape then a circle.
"Well, I think it looks like a heart. Just for us." He reached his head over and quickly kissed my lips.
I took his hand with mine and intertwined his fingers with mine.
" What are we gonna do, Romeo? Once my parents figure out about you, I'll never see you again. Like ever."
"We just won't tell them. Like ever."
I let him kiss me but that didn't make the fact that we might be torn apart any better.
