So this is what happens when you use your magic in front of a human; witch's council.

"Adelaide Williams you are being tried on the account of murdering a human." Melody, the head witch of our coven says. "You will have a chance to explain yourself before we summon the ghost of the victim."

I nod and make my way to the witness stand.

"You may begin Adelaide." Melody says.

"Taylor is-" I stop and correct myself. "Taylor was my boyfriend, I didn't want to hurt him just scare him a little." I choke down tears. " We were fighting and he was yelling at me, he accused me of cheating. I was getting angry so-"

"So you murdered him!" Someone calls from the crowd.

"That's enough, no more interruptions!" Melody says with a loud booming voice. "Continue Adelaide."

"I was getting angry and he wasn't listening so I summoned the winds to make things fly around and scare him into listening to me but I lost control and when I was trying to gain control I lost sight of him and when everything settled he was on the floor in a pool of his own blood. I don't know what happened to him but I didn't do it on purpose." I look to the floor as a tear rolls down my cheek.

"Thank you, I will now call the ghost of Taylor Fen to the witness stand." Melody spoke with a voice that echoed throughout the room.

When Taylor appears on the witness stand his brown eyes were scared. As he scans the room he stops and we lock eyes and a whisper escapes his pink lips.

"Monster."

Its funny how a single word can bring down your entire world. How that one word can destroy everything like a house caught in a hurricane.

"I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry." A whisper is the only thing I could get out as I try to choke down the tears that had already started to pour from my eyes without my permission.

"Taylor, tells us what happen the night you died." Melody spoke with a motherly tone. She was older but still very pretty. She had long jet black hair that fell to her waist and unnatural sea foam green eyes.

"Okay" Taylor nods breaking his gaze with me. "We were at my house and I was yelling at Adelaide because I thought she was cheating on me, but I guess because I'm here now and I'm dead that she was here doing the things that monsters do."

That word again, the word that burns through my soul.

"While I was yelling it got really windy and things started to fly around, I was scared and when I looked at Adelaide it looked like she was controlling it. But the wind got worse and I started to back up towards the window and it looked like she was fighting for control. That's all I remember after I was hit in the side of the head."

He was pointing to a spot behind his ear. A mark was no longer visible because after someone dies and their ghost is left behind and wounds disappear due to the physical body being injured and not the soul.

Taylor is gone and its up to the council to decide my fate.

"Adelaide Williams, due to a vote by the witch's council of New Orleans, we hereby declare you guilty and you will be punished severely." I stand in front of Melody who was sitting in a judge's seat.

"Please Melody, don't do this, you know I didn't do it give me a chance to prove it!" I began to plead. "Please! if I can't prove it by this time next week I'll take whatever punishment you have in store for me, please!"

"Okay, we will have another trial on this day next week. If you do not have evidence that can convince me or the council you will receive your punishment. As a reminder of your ticking clock we are going to bind Taylor's ghost to you so if you feel the need to run away you have a reminder of the death you have inflicted.  However, If Taylor's death brings the presence of hunters we will have no choice but to cancel our agreement do you understand?"

"Yes ma'am" I turn and walk out of the room. I'm happy that I was given a second chance to prove that I was innocent. But how an I going the find out who or what really killed my boyfriend?

As soon as I was out of the room Taylor's ghost appeared behind me. He didn't say a word but I can feel his eyes boring holes into me. How am I going to get anything done with him  breathing down my neck?
