Night time swim.

I slipped the paperclip into the key hole of the door of our local aquatic center, the cement and steel canopy keeping the snow from chilling me all the way through. My friend Marshall (Marsh) keeping watch for anyone who might.....um, catch us. Swimming in the aquatic center's pool at night was on my junior high bucket list, and Marsh and I had scheduled it for tonight. Which, by the way, was a bad idea because it was freaking cold. As in FREAKING COLD!!!!! You know?

Anyway, the lock clicked  beneath my cold hands and I pushed the door open and warm air rushed out to greet me. Ahhhhh it felt so good. We walked down the hall to the doors that led to the pool deck. We entered and made our way towards the bleachers, the silver moonlight guiding us. We set our stuff down and I slipped my shirt over my head, revealing my galaxy swimsuit I had underneath. I pulled my pants off and shivered as the air swept around my legs. Marsh rubbed his hands together as he approached the side of the pool, he stopped and turned towards me holding out his hand. I walked over placing my hand in his.

"On three," he said.

I nodded. Oh boy was this going to be cold.

He leaned in, his lips brushing my ear.

"One......two......,"

His voice was barely audible, and with every word his lips brushed my ear sending tingles through my whole body.

"Three," I whispered.

We ran to the edge of the pool, the water was beautifully dark, swirling with reflections of the night sky. My foot landed on the edge and I pushed off towards the water. My feet hit the water first, and my body didn't register the chill of the water until my head had slipped below the surface. I came up gasping, and shivering. I heard Marsh laughing beside me.

"You didn't say it would be so cold," He said through clenched teeth.

"Oh come on you wuss," I laughed.

I dipped my head under the water, opening my eyes I saw the bottom half of Marsh. His legs kicking as he treaded water above me. Under the surface was silently peaceful, with just me and the nothingness that the water created. I surfaced to see Marsh staring at me.

"What?" I said, tilting my head.

He swam towards me. Rippling the water without a sound. I swam backwards toward the wall, my hands out behind me, searching for its metal surface. My hands found the wall, Marsh was still in front of me, getting closer with each stroke.

"Marsh," My voice came out a small whisper, " your scaring me,"

" Marshall," I said little louder.

He was now right in front of me. I could feel the undercurrents from his kicks swishing around my legs. He swam closer, lifting his hand out of the water and moving it to my cheek.

"Your so beautiful," He breathed.

My heart fluttered in my chest as he moved his face towards mine.

"Mar--," He cut me off by capturing my lips with his own.

We slipped under the water, lips still locked together. It was perfect. We separated and surfaced. I couldn't keep the smile off my face. We swam to the wall and slipped out of the water. We dried and dressed in silence. Before we left the pool deck Marsh slipped his hand over mine, and we walked back to our neighbor hood like that. Hand in hand, and if this is how our whole bucket list thing is going to go I can't wait.

Hope you all enjoyed that story. It was based on something I want to do personally someday so it was super fun to wright.

Until next time,
