The New Girl

Emma's POV

As I was walking down the long hallway, someone purposefully trips me, making me drop all my stuff on the floor.

I look up to see a girl with long blonde hair and crystal blue eyes.

"Oh look, it's that new washed up piece of trash."

She looks down at me and laughs.

Everyone around her was laughing too.

I was so embarrassed.

All I could think of doing in that moment was to quickly pick up my things and leave.

As I got up and walked away, I thought to myself "I guess people were wrong.
It's only the first day of school and someone just had to do something to me."

I let out a small sigh and headed to my next class.

(After school)

Grayson's POV

As I walked inside my house after school, I put all my stuff down and went to go get myself a snack because I was hungry.

All of a sudden, my phone started buzzing, notifying me that someone was texting me.

When I looked over to check my phone, I saw that I was put into a group chat with some of my friends.

I opened up the chat and the first thing I read was a text about the new girl, Emma.

Sam: yo guys, did you hear about the new girl?

Aaron: I haven't seen her yet but I heard Sarah tripped her in the halls

Sam: Yea I heard about that too

Jack: Oh damn... Gray and I have English class with her, she's quiet af

Me: Maybe she's just shy

Jack: true but idk man, I don't think I'll be talking to her anytime soon

Me: no one asked you to dude lmao

Jack: yeah I know

Aaron: Anyway, moving on...Do you guys wanna hang out at my house?

Jack: omw

Sam: I can't, I'm busy

Me: yea, I'll be over in a few

After the conversation ended, I walked over to the cabinet and grabbed a granola bar, then walked out the door.

I then got into my car, backed out of my driveway, and drove to Aaron's house.

Emma's POV

Arriving at my doorstep, I open the front door and walk inside.

As I enter my house, I see my grandma sitting on the couch, and she welcomes me.

"Hello darling. How was your first day of school?"

She had a sweet innocent look on her face.

"It was great, thanks."

It was horrific.

I lied trying to show a face of satisfaction.

I walked up to my room and closed my door.

I laid back on my bed and that's when my vision started to blur due to the tears welling up in my eyes.

I inhaled slowly and exhaled with a somber tone.

"Why does this keep happening to me?

What did I ever do to deserve this?"

After letting out a few sniffles, I turned to my side and looked over on my night stand.

In front of me was a picture of my parents and I.

When I was about seven years old, my parents died due to a shooting that occurred in the building they worked in.

I still remember that day.

When I received the news about them, I fell apart.

I felt like a part of me has been destroyed.

I miss them a lot.

I feel like there's a void that can't be filled.

I have no friends, my parents are gone, and every day I'm being poorly treated by people my age.

Life is a let down.

The only person I really have is my grandma.

If something were to happen to her, I don't know what I would do.

I wiped the remains of tears off my face and then stood up to take a shower.

I walked into the bathroom and then undressed myself.

I moved the shower curtains aside so I could step in.

The warm water was refreshing.

When I finished my shower, I grabbed a towel to cover myself.

I walked back to my room and slipped on some comfortable sweat pants and a tee shirt.

Grayson's POV

When I arrived to Aaron's house, Jack, Aaron and I all sat down on Aaron's couch and talked about Senior year.

"I can't believe we're finally Seniors, boys.

This is so fucking insane!"

Jack said with a smile plastered on his face.

Aaron laughed in response to Jack's comment.

"Yo, this year's gonna be dope as hell." Aaron chuckled and I nodded in agreement.

For some reason I couldn't help but think about Emma.

There was just something about her that made me interested in wanting to get to know her.

"Hey guys, so about the new girl, I think I'm gonna try and talk to her."

Jack let out a soft laugh as if what I said was humorous.

"Go for it man, you seemed pretty interested in her when she first walked in."

Aaron looked at both of us as if we had just spoken another language.

"Wait you're into her?" He said with a questioned voice.

"Bro I haven't spoken to her but I mean maybe I should give her a chance, you know? She seems like she could use a friend."

"I guess so." He shrugs his shoulders and nods in agreement.

Time goes by and I say goodbye to my friends and I walk out the door and head home.

By the time I got home it was around 10:00pm so I decided to go to sleep.

Emma's POV

It was about 10:30pm and I walked downstairs to get a bottled water.

As I walked back up the steps, I unscrewed the cap and took a sip to quench my thirst.

I put the cap back on and then laid in my bed.

"I hope tomorrow's better." I whisper myself.

I then slowly close my eyes and let myself fall asleep.
