Niall and I have been talking all day everyday and before I knew it, it was time to find out if I made it to boot camp.

Names were being called and when the last name was called, it wasn’t mine. I was devastated; I walked off stage in tears. Niall spotted me and hugged me for what felt like years. I just couldn’t believe it. It was now Niall’s turn to go on stage. I was watching the boys’ names being called, just listening for Niall Horan. But his name was never called either. He walked off stage and hugged me again, we cried together. After a couple minutes, all the kids whose names didn’t get called go ushered into a group.

“Alright, the judges want some of you back on stage.” The host said, “Those names are: Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Averie Williams.”

I couldn’t believe it, Niall and I walked on stage together along with the other boys.

“We called you guys back on stage because we believe you all are too valuable to let go.” Nicole said.

“So we have decided to put you all into a boy-girl group.” Simon said, “We were going to only put the boys into a group, but we thought we needed to do something different this year and we believe your voices will sound brilliant together.” Simon continued.

So Niall and me are in a band together? This is perfect.

“Would you all like to think about accepting this?” Simon asked.

We all looked at each other and nodded.

“We would like to take this opportunity.” Harry said.

*Few weeks later*

It was defiantly an adventure with these boys. We lived together, which wasn’t a big deal for me. Mostly they just always knew how to make me smile and laugh. I was so grateful that Simon put us in a group together; these boys were becoming more than just my friends and band mates, they were becoming my family. Before I knew it, we were preforming in the finale with Robbie Williams. It was almost time to go on stage; I was shaking from my nerves. Harry held my hand in an attempt to calm me down. The boys knew how nervous I got before preforming, but since this was the finale I needed to focus. It was show time.

*Next Day, Results Day*

Why are the result shows so long? I just want to know if we won or not.

The boys and I were waiting around for the final results. These shows are always so long, I hate it I just want to know if we won or not. About twenty minutes later we were called on stage; they were going to send the third place contestant home.

“The act that got third place and that is going home is………… One Direction.”

What? No, no there has to be a mistake.

I couldn’t hold in the tears; I broke down. The boys, Simon, and the other two acts all gave me hugs. I congratulated the other two acts and walked off stage.

“Averie! Wait up!” I heard Zayn and Liam yell at the same time. I stopped and turned around. Niall ran up to me and hugged me.

“What do we do now?” That was all I could get out.

“I’m not sure.” I saw Niall look around for help from the boys.

“I don’t want to split up as a band.” I said.

“We don’t either. Right guys?” Niall asked.

The boys all nodded and we did a big group hug.

*Weeks later*

After the X Factor I reluctantly went back to my foster care family; I kept in touch with the boys, and we hung out. We even spent Christmas together. A few days after Christmas I got a call from Simon telling me to come to Syco Records for a meeting. A million questions flooded my mind. I texted all the boys asking if they got a call from Simon, they did, so my first thought was, were we signed? I got ready and took a cab down to Syco Records. When I arrived, I saw Simon and the boys all sitting around a big table.

“Averie! Right on time.” Simon greeted me.

I smiled and took a seat next to Louis and Zayn.

“Alright, now that you are all here I would like to get right to business. I was very disappointed in the voters that they put you all in third place. We did some research and your fans want you all to continue as a band and continue making music. Long story short, I would like to sign the six of you as a band to Syco Records. Are you in?”

We looked at each other and were speechless. I decided to speak up. “I would like to take this opportunity. Would you guys?”

The boys smiled and nodded. “We would.” Harry said.

“Great. Let’s get started.” Simon said.

How did I get so lucky?
