Preston stands up, his arm around his stomach. He walks towards Katerina and goes behind her. He reaches up and unties the rope. Before she could fall, he catches her. Slowly, he sets her down on the ground. He unties the rest of the rope and slightly pulls her shirt up revealing her stomach. A huge bruise is formed. He shuts his eyes and pulls her shirt down. She backs up and wraps her arm around her stomach."I'm sorry," Preston whispers, his head drops. "If I didn't do it, he would've. He would've made it far worse." Katerina nods her head and leans up against the wall. She says nothing, only sits and stares at Preston. "Look, do what they say. Do what ever they say, don't talk back, don't say anything unless spoken too. Got it?" Katerina looks at him.
"How....how long...long have you...been here?" Katerina gets out. Her voice soft, you can hear the pain in her voice. Preston drops his head looking at the ground.
"What I've been told 4 years," Preston says, sadly. Katerina leans her head up against the wall and closes her eyes. Tears slowly slide down her cheeks. Preston stands up and goes towards her. He sits down and takes one of her hands. Her eyes burst open and she tenses. "It's okay. I...I wont hurt you." She stays tense but manages to keep calm.
"We're going to die here aren't we?" Katerina's words shock Preston. Preston looks directly into Katerina's grey eyes.
"Katerina, I couldn't promise you anything. I can't promise you that we will get out of here, let alone both of us," His words come out soft and gentle not wanting to phase Katerina. She only nods and lays back. "Does it still hurt?" She nods shutting her eyes. "Here." He lays her down and she groans in pain. He lifts her shirt back up revealing her stomach. Looking at it he sits back and puts his face in his heads.
"What's .....wrong?" Katerina asks. Preston lifts his head up and rests his head on his left hand. He bites his lip and shakes his head.
"Were you pregnant?" Katerina's face drops. Her eyes close and tears start flying down her face.
