Niall's Point of View
Night fell.
I closed my eyes and shook my head for a brief moment, falling back onto the couch. Just as I did, Zayn had sat beside me, which was a shocker for me. It was two in the morning. Why was he even up? All I did was stare at him as he looked forwards out the window, looking at the rain fall. I noticed how long I'd been staring at him and scolded myself for it, telling myself that it was rude to stare. Those were the manners I was taught, and I would follow them. He let out a slow, long, shaky breath and turned to me, thankfully, just as I stopped looking at him. But then, I had to return his gaze, and our eyes locked. He forced a small grin.
"It's hot in here. Don't you think?" He questioned.
I shrugged. "Kinda, yeah. I guess."
"We should go for a walk."
"Zayn, it's raining." I shook my head lightly.
"So? We both share a love for rain, don't we? And the perfect time for walks is two in the morning and don't even tell me I'm wrong because you're the one who said that in the first place. I would go alone but I don't want to get kidnapped. Plus, we can't go out walking any other time of the day. We'll get swarmed. Why not take advantage of this?"
I sighed and tried to come up with a point to back me up, but I couldn't. He was right, after all. We should take advantage of it. I stood up and gestured for him to get up as well. "Alright..." I agreed, and he got up, doing a few cheery jumps before he dropped the blanket that was draped around his shoulders and went for the door.
We left the house and started walking towards the park, without our hoods up. The rain had died down. "So..." He said quietly. "Do you have your eyes on anybody?"
My eyes widened slightly. "Um..." I stammered. "N-no, no, not really." And he turned to me with a slight frown.
"Do you ever think you'd like to get married someday?"
"Of course... Who doesn't want to get married?"
He nodded gently. "Yeah, I sure do. Kind of my wish in life, y'know? I wish I meant that much to somebody, that they'd spend the rest of their lives with me."
"Yeah..." I said quietly. "I don't think that'll ever happen to me though."
He snorted. "Why not?"
"I'm not exactly the... Best... Man in the world. There are tons of other guys that people could go for. Why choose me? I'm not the most attractive, I overreact, I get way too jealous and overprotective... I have all the traits of a terrible husband or boyfriend." I shrugged.
"No! No way! Are you joking? I bet you'd be a great husband." He said in shock.
"No... I don't know anybody in the entire world who would even like me anyways in that kind of way. I just don't see it happening."
"Why are you so insecure? I just don't understand. You don't have anything to be insecure about. I'm sure any guy would be so lucky to have you, and I'm sure any guy in the entire world that's gay is already falling at your feet."
I mumbled under my breath, "Yeah... Except you."
"What?" He questioned.
"What?" I said quickly.
"What did you say?"
"N-nothing..." I said nervously and he shrugged. As it started to pour down a little bit more, and after we agreed we both got enough fresh air, we went back to the house. There began to be rumbling in the sky and lightning shooting down.
