Chapter 6

I was surprised to wake up by the ringing of my doorbell..especially to Ashton. I couldn't believe what was happening. I had just woken up with morning breath, short shorts, and a t-shirt. My hair was crazy.

As soon as I saw his face a worried face came to my lips up to my eyes.

Not everyday does your crush come to your door at 8 A.M. on a Saturday morning. Especially Saturdays because that's the one and only day you can sleep in.

I ended the silence by saying

"Ashton...what are you doing here?"

"Grace..I wanted to tell you something yesterday.."

"What?"

"It's about the deal we made on vacation."

At first I thought he wanted to break it and would sweep me off my feet saying he was wrong all along. Boy...was I wrong!

"I was going crazy yesterday. I was just tired and I'm sorry I made you uncomfortable I was just saying things I didn't know I said or was saying. I wasn't thinking."

"And you're telling me this because?"

"It's been on my back all week!"

"You don't realize how amazing I felt when you told me that..I was overwhelmed to hear my crush tell me that!"

"Grace..no.."

"Oh I'm sorry I'm just a little tired and I didn't mean to say that! You see maybe I would think straight if I wasn't woken up by you at 8 in the morning."

"Grace I didn't mean it.."

Cutting him off again I continued talking.

"You know you did Ashton. Why would you say it?"

He didn't say anything.

Shortly after that he walked to the door and walked away.

I spent the rest of the day thinking maybe he was going to tell me something like calling the bet off but the only way that would have happened is if I was all prettied-up like I was on the first day of school.

Later Ashton called me and texted me a couple times.

He left no voice mails.

His text said

"Grace, I'm so sorry."

And

"Grace, can me please talk? Call me."

I didn't respond I just wanted to be alone after getting crushed.

I was gone. I didn't know who I was. All week I was so happy, overjoyed, I didn't know what to do. There was only one question.
