"Gandi once said, 'You must be the change if you want to see the world'. High school, as they all say, is the best time you'll have in your life" I said through the mic and the whole gym erupted in cheers.

"This is just the beginning of our lives and there's a whole new world for us to explore. Never let the fear keep you from playing the game because even if mistakes happen, we learn from those mistakes and we become a much better person. This is it - we made it through high school. Gosh, I thought I'd never get through that!" I laughed and nodded my head. My whole batch and the parents of the students applauded for me, including the school faculty as I finished my speech.

This is it. This is the beginning of the a whole new life...

"I can't believe we graduated" my best friend, Andre laughed as both our families sat around the table and ate their meals.

"I still remember when you girls were in diapers. How time flies, don't you think Amelia?" my Mom said to Andre's mom, Jillian Parker.

"Mom!" Andre and I whinned in unison.

"Remember sweet heart, no boyfriend" my dad told me.

"Dad, I going to college, not getting married" I said to him.

"You'll never know Cap. Don't worry Mr. G. I'll call her everyday to make sure she doesn't even talk to them" Andre smirked.

"Dre, you're supposed to be my friend, not my body guard"

"Just doing my job. Plus, I don't want to lose you to some jerk"

"Trust me, no one would go for me. I mean, if no one did in high school, then no one will in College"

"Just because that son of a gun-" Andre was about to continue with her rant until she was cut off by her dad.

"Andrea Elaine Parker" her dad told her in a stern tone.

"I mean, just because there were some people who trashed you in high school, doesn't mean people will do the same thing in college"

"Don't jinx it"

"Come on, you have to admit, you did have a good time in the place. You were the golden girl. Everyone loved you so one or two people shouldn't bring you down"

"What would I do without you?" I gave her a smile and hugged her.

"Probably die" she giggled and hugged me back.

"Let's raise a toast for our girls, and for their future" Jillian said and they all raised their glasses of champagne to us.

"Are you sure you're not gonna change your mind and come with me?" Andre told me.

"Dre, you're going to Physcology school some where in Canada. I have my own dreams too you know"

"I know, I know, I'm sorry. I promise I'll visit soon"

"Or we could always come back here to the hot California sun and chill like we always do"

"I think I like that better" she smiled and gave me a hug.

"When you get there, you go directly to the Dean's office, get your room key and once you're settled, send us a message or call us" Mom said to me.

"I'm not in kindergarden Mom. I know what to do"

"Yuck, the perks of being in a bording school. I mean seriously, why do you even need it?" Andre gagged.
