Did you know that a buttery[1] has nothing to do with dairy products? OK, well, I didn't. But that's cool. Correcting misapprehensions and learning new vocabulary is all part of this daily writing thing. (That's right. I promise you process and I deliver.)

Anyway, I finally learned that a buttery is not a place where butter is made, but rather a place where bottles are stored. It's a wine cellar. It's the place where the butler does the buttling. It's also the scene of the crime in Edgar Allan Poe's famous short story, "The Cask of Amontillado."[2]
