Author's note

Yo what up it's ya dawg so this is gonna be a freakin' long chapter. Like incredibly long. You've been warned. But it's sooo worth it. This might be the funnest one of mine to make and IT'S ALL IMPORTANT! The girl in the picture is supposed to be a reference picture to a part in the story. Read on my children

Shadow's POV

I grinned ferociously; feeling my lips stretch unnaturally wide. It was time. I fazed through the empty walls of his apartment and appeared in his bedroom. He snored softly, hugging his pillow out of fear. How adorable, but yet so sad. He looked so vulnerable. It felt invigorating. The smoke unfurling from my now sentient body intensified as I thought about the millions of possibilities. I've waited almost 26 years just for this moment, and the added excruciating previous three days. It was torture in it's purest form, which is a statement. I just stood silently, aching to kill him. But now is my chance. These three days are crucial. I can't show him my true form, well, my human form, immediately. I had to let the wound fester and make him fear for his life and sanity. I slowly deteriorated from being a shadow to looking like a living demon on purpose. While I wanted to kill him, making him go insane was fun as well. Time for one last show.

Let's make it a good one.

Normal POV

Jack slept soundly, which surprised his unconscious mind. He got really comfy in one position and slept till around 3:30 am. An extremely loud crash echoed through the apartment, making Sean jump awake. He swiveled his head back and forth in his room. Nothing was out of place. Another loud noise resonated in the small apartment. He stepped out of his bed, grabbing a knife from his bedside table. The first night the shadow appeared, Jack wouldn't go to sleep without some protection, and it hasn't left his side. He exited the bedroom and entered the hallway to get to the living room. The hallway seemed to stretch into infinity, a black never ending hole at the end of it. Jack blinked his eyes. Was he dreaming? No, there was no long hallway. It was normal. The pictures on the walls turned to grotesque, hideous creatures, but in a sudden flash of light they were back to normal. What was the flash of light? Well, it was Ireland after all, so naturally there would be lightening. Terrific. He inched his way into the living room. The source of the crashing was shattered glasses and dishes all over the floor. Wicked, jagged shards glittered in the pale moonlight. Jack treaded slowly across the dangerous floor, despite him wearing shoes. He was searching for it, but the pain in his stomach wasn't there.

He spoke too soon. Pain shot through his belly like a bullet, a clear shot down the middle. He gasped and screamed in agony. This was by far the worst pain the shadow has brought on him. Through gritted teeth, he shouted, "WHERE ARE YOU!? I KNOW YOU'RE HERE YE BASTARD! COME FIGHT ME LIKE A MAN!" Despite the pain in his gut, he clenched the hilt of his weapon, ready for anything. The shadow materialized from the air, making the stabbing in his stomach five times worst. Jack squeezed his eyes shut and grinded his teeth; his screams escaping through the holes in his mouth. His knife clattered to the floor as he wrapped his arms around his stomach to suppress the pain. His breathing grew long and ragged, making him lightheaded. His heart started to beat faster. He was having a panic attack. His knees struck the floor, making the last of the glass shards dig into them. But that pain was minimal compared to the one in his stomach. Jack's eyes rolled to the back of his head; his living room did a cartwheel and everything went black. The last thing he saw was the shadow sweep over him like a blanket.

Hunny.
