In the middle of the night there is all sorts of noises that can be heard. Some are quite soothing to some people such as the whisper of a cool breeze, or the babble of water flowing through the nearby stream. Even the quiet hum of insects can be comforting.

But the thunderous sounds of heavy paws crashing to the ground in a furious pace behind you as you are racing through the darkness is enough to scare the daylights out of the bravest of men, let alone a 10 year old child.

Clutching to her father's neck, little Peggy is holding on for for dear life as he races through the deep forest. She can hear and see the vicious looking beasts as they gain on her and her father in their relentless pursuit. The five filthy beasts are all gray wolves that are 6 times larger than any average wolf that she has seen in the zoo.

Her father's heavy breathing and racing beats of her heart are quickly being drowned out as distance between them and snarling creatures becomes shorter by the minute.

Suddenly the man crashes to the ground as he trips over some roots. Peggy falls to the ground a few feet from her father, striking her head on a rock jutting up from the ground. Seeing her crumpled and unconscious form lying a few feet away the man immediately jumps up and in a heartbeat shifts into his great midnight black wolf. The deep growls that tare from his chest and the great waves of power radiating off his magnificent wolf bring all 5 of the cowards to a stop in their pursuit of him and his daughter.

He can see the fear in their eyes as they glare at his powerful form.  He snarls and bares his mighty canines as he prepares  himself   to attack his pursuers  and protect his child from the mutts in front of him.

All five of the gray mutts pounce at once, but they are no match for the powerful and protective dad who defeats them with snapping jaws and a few swipes of his huge claws.  The battle was over in a matter of minutes with each of the 5 enemies laying in pools of their own blood on the forest floor.

The mighty black wolf stands still, panting from battle and long run in human form. His many injuries are now making their presence known as he looks over the horrendous scene before him. Whimpering when his gaze finally falls on little Peggy's body laying among the devastation,he pulls his thoughts together and quickly shifts back to his human form. As he pulls her tiny form to his chest she starts to groan and stir.
