The friend's crush

My friend Hayley has the biggest crush on the hottest guy in school. But then again, who doesn't? Well to be fair, I can't say I do, since I've only been at this school for a week. Due to circumstances, I had to move school in the middle of a school year which I guess I didn't really mind. I like to look at the positive side of things and new school didn't really change things much for me. I've always been a low key kind of girl. Hayley was the first friend I made at this new school and I was surprised at how close we had gotten in such a short period of time. Why I moved to this new school isn't really that important. Hayley's crush on Christian, on the other hand, is about to have some major significance in my life.

Like I said, this is just your typical romance story. A teen love story to be exact. So anyways, this is how the story goes.

One day, we were in gym class, and by we, I mean Hayley and I. I don't quite recall what we were doing but it had us pretty exhausted since we're both not very athletic people and any form of exercise in any amount is enough to tire us out. It was our last class for the day thank god. As usual, Hayley was talking nonstop about her obsession with Christian. I swear with the way she was talking about him, I was almost beginning to fall for the guy myself. Almost. I haven't really had the honour of meeting the guy as of yet, although I think Hayley pointed him and group of friends out one time but they were too far for me to have gotten a good look.

Today she was talking about how Christian was so.. out of her league. Unobtainable. Not only because of his two best friends who are always by his side, but because there was no way for her to even get close to him. She shared no classes with him nor a mutual friend that she was close enough that could arrange a way for them to get to know each other, no at least meet.

Everyone knew and loved Christian but he only kept two close friends. Let me introduce you to his two best friends who apparently grew up together with him.

Firstly, we have Evangeline. She is the hottest girl at our school. She is definitely not your typical bitchy cheerleader. She is far from it. She is your girl-next-door, your class rep and she is head of the volunteer club. That girl is a saint with looks as golden as her heart. One smile could literally get any guy falling to their knees. She is just the definition of perfect.

Then there is Klaus, apparently the second hottest guy at our school. I guess it's true what they say, that hot people attract each other like magnets and somehow find each other. He is the typical player sort of guy, the more approachable one since he has this ability to make anyone feel totally comfortable with him and like you have been friends for years. That is not to say he  gets with a lot of girls. He may be a flirty one but from what I heard, he was yet to find a girl he liked enough to pursue a relationship with.

I'm sure at this point you're wondering what Christian is like. Well aside from his inhumanly good looks, he is... just perfection. If his guitar, piano or just vocal performances haven't already gotten you falling in love with him, it's everything else about him from how he looks when reading a book in the library or how he smiles at you with his dimples showing, as you're passing by him.

Not to be cliche or anything, but I think all three of them are pretty loaded. Putting those three people together, well let's say even with them acting like they're regular students, everyone else can't help but feel inferior.

For some reason, gym class had ended ten minutes later than usual today. We were to run 15 laps around the gym, which is massive, and we weren't allowed to leave until everyone had completed the laps. When the bell rang, Hayley and I were on our 12th lap. Hayley and I were so exhausted from the run that we had just collapsed onto the gym to catch our breaths while everyone else in our class were making their way to get changed.

"We are really unfit people. But I'm glad we're unfit together." She said, catching her breath every now and then.

I laughed and agreed. I was definitely too unfit for my own good. Times like these, I kind of regretted declining my mom's offer about joining a gym together.

Then Hayley spoke again. "You know.. I've been thinking. You're new and you're quite pretty. I don't think it would be very hard for you to get popular at this school. So, I need you to promise me one thing. Actually one promise and I need a favour."

Hayley's words took me by surprise. I didn't know whether to be flattered that she thought so highly of me or be worried about where this was going. "Err sure anything for you bestie, as long as it's not illegal of course" I replied back.

Hayley laughed. "Of course not silly. I wouldn't ask you for things that would negatively impact your life. Okay so the favour is... I need you to do whatever you can to befriend Christian and be my bridge."
