The Crusades Trilogy

Complications

I run down the hallway. I navigate my way through the tiny, dimly lit hallways. I finally find him. I yell out to him.

"Why are you acting strange?"

He stops in his tracks and turns towards me walking. I back up until I hit the wall behind me.

"What are you doing?"

He answers me still invading my personal space a little.

"You have no idea what it feels like."

"What are you talking about?"

"You are so oblivious?"

"I'm confused."

"Of course you are because you can't see what's right in front of you."

"Just tell me what you are talking about."

"I can't!"

"Why not? You have to stop talking like that. I can't help you unless you tell me what's up!"

"GOD!"

He moves away from me and runs his hands through his hair.  He moves back over to me blocking me in with his hands on the wall behind me and my head between his arms.

"What are you doing to me?"

"What did I do? I'm confused. Stop talking in riddles."

He stares at me for a while. He is kind of scaring me with his silence. I break the awkward silence.

"What are you talking about?"

"How can you be so oblivious?"

"I'm confused."

He gets even closer. I wonder what he is doing. Has he ever heard of  a person's personal bubble? Well, he is in mine! I need some space. I am worried about what is wrong.

"Will you just tell me what you are talking about?"

"I can't tell you!"

"Why not?"

"It won't come out right."

I shake my head looking away.

"But..."

I look back at him.

"I can show you."

I look at him confused. Before I know it, he grabs my face and kisses me. After about a minute, I realize I am kissing him back. I push him away. He looks at me very confused.

"What's wrong?"

"I can't do this!"

"Why not?"

He tries to lean in, but I try to put some distance between us.

"Why not?"

"Because! I would be betraying a friend."

"Okay! I knew Alyssa had feelings for me. How am I going to let her down easily?"

I about die of laughter. He can't possibly believe that Alyssa has feelings for him.

"Alyssa has never had those kind of feelings about you, and I am pretty sure she never will."

"What are you talking about, then? Who is the friend?"

I hesitate for a moment.

"Katerina has feelings for you."

"Katerina! I barely know her. And, how can you have feelings for someone you just met, but not feelings for someone you have known your entire life?"
