You were in a deep sleep when you were abruptly woken up by the sound of crying.

You slowly opened your eyes and looked cross-eyed at the clock that was next to the baby monitor.

Almost three in the morning.

You sighed and looked over at your husband Joel who was fast asleep next to you.

Even though it was his turn to tend the baby, you didn't want to wake him.

You got up, went to the kitchen to make a bottle and trudged to the baby's room.

Your daughter was only three months old and not once had she slept through the night so you and Joel take turns getting up with her.

As you were about to walk into the baby's room, Joel came out of your room, rubbing his eyes.

"Why didn't you wake me?" He asked, groggy.

"I didn't want to bother you." You replied, half-sleep.

Joel grabbed the bottle from you.

"Go back to sleep." He said, kissing your forehead as he went into your daughter's room.

When you laid back in bed, you could hear Joel talking to your daughter through the baby monitor.

"What are you doing, always keeping mommy and daddy up? It's okay though because we love you." He paused.

"You look just like your mommy, so beautiful and precious. The boys are going to be all over you, and when they are, I'll be right there to scare them off. That's what your grandpa did to me when I started dating you mom."

"But I liked her so much, I went back. I don't  think you should start dating until you're 30 but your mom thinks that's ridiculous but I don't see what the problem is." He yawned.

"Looks like my boring stories put you to sleep. I'll leave then."

A minute later, Joel was back in bed next to you.

"I heard what you were saying in there." You mumbled.

"Oh, did you? I was just rambling. I like talking to her, it's like she gets me. Unlike someone."

You lightly punched his arm.

Your back was facing him so he looped an arm around your waist and dragged you closer to him.

"Hopefully she won't wake up anymore." You said.

"Mhm. I'm glad I got to marry and start a family with you. I love you."

"I love you too."
