Stiffness, pain, and confusion. The three things Phil felt as he woke up. Hospital bed was next. He was in a hospital. Now there was fear.
Phil opened his eyes to see the blindingly bland hospital walls. Well, that and the full body cast he was wearing. Screaming seemed like a good option right now.
With a deep breath, Phil attempted to scream, but couldn't due to the totally non-phalic looking object in his mouth and throught. It was a tube pumping oxygen into and out of him, to simulate breathing.
Lucky for Phil, a nurse had noticed he was awake and pulled the tube from his mouth.
"Sir? Sir, can you hear me?"
"Wa-wa-wa..."
"I-I can't hear you sir, please speak up a little."
"Water, please..."

Phil, now with the nurse holding a glass of water to his mouth for him to drink, was calmer than before. For the time being at least.
"So, how long have I been... like this?" Phil questioned, "What even happened to me?"
"Oh! Um, you've been in this hospital for a little over a week now," the nurse hesitantly explained, "You and that handsome fellow over there got hit by a car during a storm, but you're friend seems to have gotten the worst of it."
Phil was waiting for the peices to click together in his head, but when they did, a flash of worry washed over him. He finally looked over to the right, to see the prone Dan a bed away from him, with nearly double the machinery that he had.
"Dan... Dan!" Phil screamed and tugged at his casts, but immediately regretted it. Sudden and intense pain washed over his body as the nurse tried to calm him.
Phil knew things would only get worse.
