Chapter 8
That day, Ash goes over what to expect.
"In each part of training, you will do something that has to do with what you fight for. For example, in the Laurotha stage, you will have a written test that test your knowledge and how good you are in knowledge. Of course, the Laurotha Rivas will probably be better at it than anyone else. The Whylex part is first. We have four Whylex in this group so this part will be easier for you. We have specifically designed a room for each Sector. We will get this room for one hour each day.. Your only free day is Sunday. Today is a Sunday if you need to know. You get lunch at 1:00 and dinner at 7:00. Breakfast is whenever you come but training starts at eight and if you are not done and had breakfast before then, sorry, but you won't have breakfast. You get one snack break. Today was just a day to get to know your fellow teammates and pick your name, color and symbol. Many of the teams are taking this day to relax but I have something else planned. We are going to play a game I like to call, Noleball! It is a fairly simple game that was originally only designed for the Heshra part of training but a few years ago, it became more popular. Now, there are tournaments and matches. I want you to know all about the game. Normally, we play against other training groups but today, you will play against each other. Here is how you play. Both teams have a basket and three rocks. The objective of the game is to get all of your rocks into the other team's basket. The game is played in a ring that is a copy of a forest. You will have one weapon each. It is a sword that has is covered in chalk. If you are hit three times from any team, the other's or your own, you are dead and must exit the ring immediately. If an opponent takes the rock from you, they can score in your basket and get a point. To win, you have to have all three rocks in the other team's basket. Is everything clear?" We nod. "Okay, then follow me."
She leads us down a hallway I don't recognize. It ends in a glass door. I can see outside from it. The lush green forests tower over the training building. The ocean is barren and I see a bird flying over top the vast sea. Ash pushes the door open and grunts. It must be heavy. We all step out and take in our surroundings. I have never seen so many trees in my life. All the green and brown and yellow all mixed together is breathtaking.
"Why are you a trainer?" Ali is asking Ash.
"When we come back from training, you get to choose a job and I loved the island so much, I snatched the option up before anyone else could. I have been here so long, they decided to rank me higher. Me and Damion lead training."
Ali nods her head and smiles. Then skips off to join Annika. The two have been inseparable since we got here.
We approach a large arena. I see some pines poking over the rim. There is a gate and with the push of a button in Ash's hand, it opens. We enter and gasp as we scan our surroundings. In the center of the arena is a thick forest but on the outer rim are stands and benches. There are four big televisions mounted on the walls. I guess it is hard to see the game through the trees so they probably have cameras to see the game. Right now the benches are empty but I can imagine when there is a tournament, they will be packed, crowds cheering and egging teams on. Making bets on the winning team. I can imagine it as I close my eyes but when I open them I realise that I missed part of Ash's instructions.
"...I am going to choose the teams and there will be no whining. This is your first time playing so the whereabouts of the baskets are a mystery. Good luck! The teams are going to be," She squints her eyes while she thinks of some good teams. "I am going to number you either a one or a two and then go with the people who have the same number. You will face each other once we get all the gear and weapons. Then you have five minutes to find your basket and make a battle plan. When I blow my whistle, the game starts. Now, one, two, one, two, one, two, one," She points at me. I am on team "one".
