We arrived at the house and sighed. Mum opened the door and I dragged my trunk inside, with Zoe beside me. It was a Manor, and you think I would like it, but I didn't. It was a large plain house and it was rather spacious. Many vases with daisies were everywhere. My mother loved daisies. I hated them, probably because I hated coming to this house.

"David! We're here!" Mum yelled and my father appeared out of the kitchen. I tensed. He was middle-aged, with greying hair, he was large and looked rather fit. Zoe grabbed my hand gently and squeezed it reassuringly.

"Hello Dear." Father said to Mum. "Hello Zoe."

"Hello Uncle David..." She replied softly. Then he looked at me, hatred spread across his face.

"Isabel."

"Hello Father." I said. "We'll be upstairs." Zoe nodded and we both headed up the stairs.

I opened the door to my room and sighed. I walked inside and placed my trunk down near my desk, before flopping down on my bed. It looked smaller, probably because there was another bed for Zoe.

"So, tell me all about Hogwarts??" Zoe asked excitedly. She sat down on my rolling desk chair and rolled it over to me. I sat up and opened my trunk.

"It was great. It's amazing and-" I started unpacking my stuff.

"Have any friends?"

"Of course I have friends! You met James, Sirius-" She smiled and I shot her a look.

"What?"

"James is madly in love and Sirius is the biggest flirt there is." She frowned.

"Really?"

"Yes! And I have a friend who has a crush on him too. So yeah..."

"Do you have any other other friends?"

"No of course not." I said sarcastically and she raised an eyebrow. "Of course I have friends!"

"Really? I was your only friend at Ilvermorny except for Bianca but she turned out to be a b*tch." Zoe stated. I sighed. Bianca was a girl at Ilvermorny who was in our house. But she then started teasing me and started saying the only friends I had were imaginary and were in books... which wasn't exactly true. But I was the type of person that would sit in the corner reading. That's changed... sort of.

"Yeah, well James called me a b*tch... and now we're friends..."

"Wait what??"

"And I challenged him and hexed him so I guess I was-"

"Woah! Hold up. You hexed someone? Well you were into all those jinxes and hexes. Like remember what happened to Rolan Keely?" I smirked slightly.

"Yeah... he was teasing Sophia and I hexed him so badly he was sent to the Hospital Wing... I got detention but it was worth it." Zoe nodded and smiled.

"The shock you brought to everyone though... 'Oh no! Book girl has gone bad!'" She said, imitating someone. I laughed and sighed.

"So what did you do??" Zoe asked finally. "At Hogwarts." I smiled and told her everything. About Alice, Marlene and Lily, the Marauders, the Prank War and classes. Though I was pretty sure she didn't pay attention when I mentioned the classes.

"So yeah..." I finished.

"I want to go to Hogwarts now..." She whined.

"Oh really?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah! I mean hot, funny boys and-" She stopped. "And... and um... and-" I laughed.

"Again, James is in love. Sirius is the biggest flirt. Remus is not into that stuff and Peter, well I don't know."

"So you started a Prank War?"

"Yep."

"Who are you and what have you done with Isabel Fall?" I laughed again.

"Is it really that surprising?" She thought for a minute.

"No not really."

"Does anyone know about you and your father...?" She asked.

"Alice, Marlene and Lily do." I said and sighed.

"Do they know how bad it is...?" I looked at her and shook my head. She sighed and hugged me. "It'll be fine."

"I doubt it." I hugged her back.

"I mean, I'm here that's a start." I managed a smile and sighed again. Two weeks. The holidays are for four...

A few hours later we went downstairs to have dinner. Zoe and I sat across from each other and across from my parents. We ate in awkward silence.

"So how's your mother, Zoe?" Mum asked after a while.

"Um... she's good..." Zoe answered. "She didn't want me to come though."

"Really?" I questioned, frowning. "How come?"

"She heard about you and um..." Zoe leaned over to me then nodded to my father. I nodded.

"Oh of course. Well don't worry he's not going to beat you up because you're not his daughter." My parents looked at me. "What? It's the truth. It's not her fault Sophia's dead." I stopped. Did I really just say that?

"Isabel, I don't know what they did at Hogwarts but that is not the correct way to speak at-" My mother started.

"They did nothing at Hogwarts. It's just the truth. Come on Mum, you don't like lying."

"I don't know what's happened to you! I hear you've started a Prank War-"

"How do you know that?!" I stood up furiously.

"You're hexing people! You're not sending us letters! And you've made friends with Sirius Black! A member of the Black Family!!"

"I told you! He's not-"

"Black? Isabel! Do you know what they've-" My father added.

"No! But Sirius isn't like that! He's in Gryffindor!!"

"A Black in another house? I highly doubt that."

"He is! He's nothing like the rest of his family! He's in Gryffindor, he has long hair, he pranks-"

"I don't want you making friends with him!" I groaned.

"Are we really doing this again?? He is different! Be happy I'm not dating him or something..." Zoe chocked on her food and she started coughing. "You okay?"

"I'm fine... but can I just add... from what you've told me, you and Sirius aren't exactly on the first name basis thing. So why are you-"

"Well he's still my friend. And I don't care!" I added, pointing to my parents. "And again, it's my life not yours! Stop trying to control it!" I stormed off and into my room.

I slammed the door of my room and sighed. The nights were normally like this. Except for the part where I start yelling at them. They would say something about what I've been doing like not making any friends, or reading too much. It was all stupid. Then I would be to scared to say something and my father would shove me against the wall and start... I sighed. Why was I defending Sirius anyway?

"Knock knock." The door opened and Zoe walked in. "You okay?"

"I'm fine." I said and looked away. "Maybe..."

"Is it always like this?" She sat beside me.

"We're not the best family..." I mumbled.

"Well just look on the bright side. Christmas is coming up! We'll open our presents, we could go outside, have a snowball fight-"

"Which I'm going to beat you at." I grinned.

"Oh really? We shall find out then. Night Isabel." She walked over to her bed and lay down. I smiled.

"Good night." I lay down and pulled my blanket over me. I sighed and closed my eyes.
