Before there were the great oceans, the huge mountains, the grassy plains, and the diamond sky, there was nothing.
Nothing aside from a barrier of pure energy. Some parts of the energy was light with perfection, while others were dark with destruction.
One day the dark and the light could no longer live in balance and the barrier broke, spreading into the nothingness. Where pieces collided there were explosions forming new stars and planets, and nothing became everything we now know.
On one of the planets, life appeared, and the humans populated Crenesis. They hunted and farmed, and lived in harmony with each other.
But one day everything changed as two forgotten pieces of the Barrier met the land. On their way down their outer layers shriveled off, landing far away from the piece itself. One of the pieces was of the pure light, and the other one of the tainted dark. They landed on opposite sides of the land, the light drawn to the deserts of the South, and the dark drawn to the mountains of the North.
A young woman - her name Radix - lived alone on one of the mountains furthest North. She was out looking for firewood when she found the shard.
The dark energy saw her cold eyes, and hardened heart, and it pined for it.
Radix' curiosity piqued, as she had been alone for so long with nothing to do. The shard was two- no three times her size, and she stared in awe. Cautiously she went over to touch it and the second she did the two merged leaving Radix with wings as black as a winter night, and a need for destruction bigger than the land had ever known.
A world away, a handsome man lived in a small village. Here he hunted and built, making sure that everyone there were well-fed and happy. He always wore a smile and his hazel brown eyes glowed with warmth. One day, he had decided to accompany some of the children from the village into the woods where they would be gathering berries. Suddenly, he sensed some kind of urge, pulling him toward a giant oak tree. With his bow in hand, he slowly walked closer to the tree. That was when he noticed the glow coming from behind the tree. A huge piece of the most beautiful white called to him, begging him to come closer. He was mesmerized with it's beauty and went over to feel it. A warmth like no other spread through him and wings as white as the purest snow were attached to his back. A wish that had always been there, to always do right by everyone, suddenly became so clear to him, and he swore that love and mercy never would falter.
But how would these two opposites be able to coexist? The answer: They could not. Some day these two would collide, and then there would be no going back.
