Over Time a Josh and Maya Story

Chapter 2. Pushing boundaries

Maya sat in her room sketching away. She found herself to be a little anxious as of lately. Maya never liked change. Change almost never ment something good was going to happen.
On her mind today was Joshua Matthews. Her long time crush turned long game partner.

It has been a month since her seventeenth birthday and Josh has been acting differently towards her.
Sure after the ski lodge they would occasionally share longing glances..maybe hold hands for a moment but he always seemed to have boundaries put up when it came to her. She didn't blame him. It wasn't like they were a couple...they were playing the long game.

However since the night of her seventeenth birthday that he showed up to Riley's and came in through the bay window. Things changed. That night he gave her a gold locket inscribed with the word "Someday". It was a beautiful gesture considering she was upset that he hadn't been at her party.

Since then Josh has been openly affectionate with her. Like when they are at the Matthews together he will drape his arm over her shoulder, play with her hair when they are watching movies. He definitely hugs her more often kissing her temple or forehead when he does.

They talk almost every day now..before maybe once a week via text or if she was there when he came to do his laundry at the Matthews home. Now he was the first to wish a good morning and the last to say goodnight. Not that she was complaining it was actually kind of nice. Maya was still weary though. Just then her phone buzzed. She was excited to see it was a text from Josh.

Maya:
Hey😊

My Boing😘😍:
Wyd?

Maya:
Nm...just trying to sketch. Having a little trouble finding an idea to sketch. U?

My Boing 😘😍 :
Uh huh..what's wrong?

Maya:
Nothing is wrong just writers block lol 😅

My Boing😘😍:
Maya...its me your talking to. Tell me whats wrong? You never get Writers block unless you are worried or upset. Tell me...

Maya:
Nothing i am fine..really. 😁😁

My Boing 😘😍:
Ok well i am going to my brother's house to do my laundry. Are you there???

Maya:
No I am home right now... Riley had a date with Huckleberry today so yea..just home. Y?

My Boing 😘😍:
Ok no reason just missed you thats all. 😉😉😙

Maya:
You saw me yesterday lol.

It was true he had gone over for dinner at the Matthews last night and since Maya is usually always there they saw each other. It was nice he sat next to her at dinner and held her hand under the table. Later that night he pulled her in for a hug and kissed her temple. " I'll text you when I get to the dorm okay?" he told her in her ear. She blushed at the sensation of feeling his breath on her ear and neck.
She smiled and said " Okay."

*buzz buzzz*

Maya:
Maybe😉😉😉

They continued that way for almost an hour while Josh did his laundry.
Later that night Maya sat in her livingroom watching t.v.. When her doorbell rang. She wondered who it could be.. maybe Riley she thought.

Maya's POV

Really? Just when I was finally comfortable...

I get up and drag myself to the door.
When i open the door, expecting to see Riley but instead I see Josh.
My heart skips a beat.

There in my door way is standing Joshua Matthews  holding tacos and potstickers. Josh is grinning ear to ear. He looks so handsome with his leather jacket and navy blue beanie.

"Josh what are you doing here?" I ask really very curious he has never been to my house before.

" Aren't you going to invite me in?"he replies.

I realize that he is still outside so I  tell him to come in. He sets the food down on the coffee table and turns to face me.

"Josh... why are you here?"
I repeat again.
He quirks his eyebrow at me and chuckles.
"Not happy to see me, i guees...well while I was at Cory's he told me that Shawn was away on business and your mom went with him... Soooo" he pauses for a minute. (Scratching the back of his head)

"Sooo..." I say.

"Sooo i figured since your here alone..your probably hungry and you seemed bummed earlier...sooo I am here to cheer you up. Surprise!!!" He says with a smile.

I laugh.

" Oh okay...so do you want to watch Netflix? " I say pointing to the T.V..

He nods.

I grab the drinks and he sets the food out on the coffee table. We both take a seat on my couch and begin skimming through Netflix searching for something we both want. After arguing for awhile on what show to watch. Josh finally caves and we decide on Super Girl. My favorite show.

"I let you win this time...but next time we are watching something i like.." he says as he nudges me with his elbow.
I blush thinking how he said "next time" will there be a next time?

After we finish eating Josh sits back on my couch and motions for me to sit closer to him...just like he has been doing alot recently. I lean back into his side and he wraps his arm around me, pulling me even closer to him.
Something about this feels right. Like we fit perfectly together.

God I wish it was Someday... I think to myself. I decided not to dwell on it and enjoy the moment. We spend the night laughing, Josh cracks joke about the Show...like how could it take Jimmy Olsen so long to see that Cara likes him.. and how can no one tell she is Super Girl because of her glasses. 
I gasp feigning hurt feelings as if he insulted me personally. We continue to laugh and enjoy the evening. Soon we both fall asleep on the couch. Wrapped in eachothers arms.  It feels right.
Sometime during the night I feel my body being shifted slightly. When i open my eyes I see Josh grabbing the blanket and throwing it over us before pulling me closer to him and giving me a kiss on my forehead.
I don't know if i dreamed the next part but i swear he smelled my hair and went.. "hmmm"

It must be a dream.
