Over Time a Josh and Maya Story

Chapter 6. First Kiss

"Josh..." Maya began, she couldn't believe what she was looking at. Did he do this for her?

"Maya, I am sorry... did I do something wrong?" Josh asked his voice laced with panic. He didn't mean to upset her. All wanted was to give her a great Valentines day.

Maya looked to the man standing in front of her. She took in his appearance again. He looked so handsome and charming. Wiping away her tears she finally spoke. Her voice wavering.

"What is all this? I thought we were having a movie night... what's going on?" Maya asked. She was so confused.

"Maya, I wanted to surprise you...  I thought since its Valentines Day why not make this night special." Josh explained.

"I understand that but why? Did you do this for me?" Maya asked.

"Well yeah, you deserve to have a nice Valentines day..." Josh said with a soft smile.

"Josh, I don't deserve..." before Maya could finish she was cut off by Josh.

"What are you saying?... Maya you deserve this and alot more... now come on before the food gets cold.." Josh said as he dragged Maya to the livingroom.

As they made their way to the livingroom. Maya took in everything Josh had done for her. The flowers, candels, chocolate strawberries and so much more. She was still in shock when they sat down.

Their night continued as Josh had planned it. Maya had seemed to have gotten over the initial shock she had when she first arrived. Now they were sitting together on the couch cuddling watching Netflix.

Maya still felt nervous, she tried not to show it but Josh began to notice just how tense she felt in his arms. Normally she would melt right into his side. Tonight however she seemed off.

Maya was having an internal battle. Her and Josh had been getting closer but all this left her feeling uneasy. She wasn't use to these feelings. How nice it felt to sit next to him, to lay next to him. Waking up with his scent around her. All this combined with the overwhelming feel that the other shoe will drop soon.

It wasn't Someday...

Why was he being this nice?

Josh noticed that Maya was tense and seemed lost in thought. What was wrong? Josh decided to find out.

Pausing the movie Josh turned to Maya.

"Maya whats wrong?" He was concerned. This wasn't part of his plan to gain her love and slowly build a relationship before someday.

"Nothing.." Maya said. She didn't want to show Josh her insecurity.

"Come on Maya I thought we were passed this? What is wrong?" Josh pleaded looking Maya in the eye.

"Josh, what is all this?" Maya motioned to the candels and treats.

"Maya I told you..its for " before he could finish Maya stopped him.

"No Josh, I just don't mean this..I mean everything. The movie nights, the sleep overs, and forehead kisses. Your hugging me more and now all this. Josh it isn't someday why are you doing this?" Maya asked her frustration coming out in tears bluring her vision.

Josh sat there stunned, he was speechless. He thought she liked all those things he was doing for her.

"Maya I'm sorry... I thought you liked doing all those things with me.." Josh said.

"I do but it's just going to make it hurt that much more when you find someone else, someone better.." Maya said.

Josh couldn't believe what she was saying. No one could even compare to her.
