The sun climbed up the sky, spreading its shining light across the island. Y/N was huddled in her bed, and as soon as the sunshine rested on her face, she squinted her eyes and quickly covered herself with her bed sheets.
(Go away, sun, don't you have other people to bother?)
Then she hesitated for a moment.
(On second thought, don't, really, i will sacrifice myself as a shield, so my people won't suffer!)
She thought about her family back in (Your hometown), and doubts started to peck her mind.
(Sometimes i regret coming in here, I thought i'd be okay on my way to my pokémon journey, but it feels so unnatural here.. I should've listened to my siblings!)
She rolled to the other side of the bed, trying not to overthink as she clinged to her bed sheets with more force.
Sleep suddenly flew out of her mind, failing at shooing her thoughts away. Then she finally felt the nerve to wake up.
As she slightly opened her eyes, she felt like her whole day would be just brooding over this day!

Another light hit her eyes, this time frustrated rather than sorrowful.
(What the heck? I just rolled over to the other side! Damn you!)
She ran as she lifted her body, resentment pouring all over. After turning her head, she noticed a pair of whiskers stuck with ears at two sides, an ear twiching. Below it lay two bug eyes staring at her, pupils narrowed, covering its coin with tension.
She then recognized the shape of the stubby creature, regretting at her cursing. Her face rested with genuine forgiveness, reaching out her arm to pet it.
"Ah, Meowth, it's okay. At least you helped me do something i couldn't do."
Meowth tilted his head in confusion. "Meow?"
The moment she petted him, his face melted with love, as if nothing had happened.
Y/N giggled at the silly cat, for once she felt at ease being here. (Maybe this wouldn't be the worst day.)
A small cracking sound rang softly across the room. Y/N quickly looked up at the source of the sound, and saw a familiar face. It was her father peeking out a little from the door, signaling her to be ready, shortly he left.
"Ah jeez, I better get going. What time is it anyways?" Y/N searched around for her phone, but she saw no sign of it. A hard pang hit her chest, making her quickly stand up to look for it. Meowth was holding her phone and raised it for her to notice it, but Y/N obviously didn't take a hint.
"Mrrow! Meowth!"
Y/N hesitated for a moment, then turned her head, relief painted her face. "I should really worry about myself more than a device.."
She walked over to him, bending her legs for a clearer view of the time. It was 7 o'clock.
"Man I'm late!" She then ran for her closet and picked up her clothes. A shirt with soft colored flower patterns, a cherry beanie with a pokéball symbol on the middle, and some shorts. Then she felt like she was missing something.. Of course, it was her bag! (So much for Y/N today!)
Meowth was swinging his eyes left and right, trying to catch up to Y/N's fast pacing.
"Mrrow..." Dizziness clouded him, leading him to fall over the floor.
Y/N finally got ready, then glanced to Meowth. "Hey, Meowth, what do you thin-"
She saw him, leaving soft moans here and there. She scratched her head and shrugged it off. "Eh, you'll be fine.. Say, why am i asking a pokémon for an opinion?"
She then remembered about her tardiness, then sprinted downstairs, spotting her father sitting on a sofa, eating his breakfast.
"Good morning, dad," Y/N said with glee. Her father seemed more cheerful than before, and replied, "Morning, your breakfast is on the table."
"Oh, uh I don't think I have the time.."
"Don't be ridiculous! There's always time for food." Her father insisted.
Y/N set her gaze on her meal. Omelette and some bread, the most typical breakfast you can think of. (That's good! I can eat that thing in a flash!)
She sat on the sofa near her father, then starting digging in the food. Her father saw the news on TV, it was announcing the event for some starter pokémon, Y/N glanced over to them, then fastened her pace. (I better hurry for this!)
Her plate was fully cleaned, her father shaking his head and chuckling at the same time. "Okay, dad, better hurry for my starter!"
Before Y/N could go, her father said, "Alright, just one more thing."
Y/N  blinked, waiting for his conditioning.
"Don't forget, do NOT spend time with boys!"
Y/N froze at the reminder. She saw lots of young boys around Alola, but clearly not interested in any. She was more focused on her journey alone, having a team of pokémon defending her with all their powers is so much better than having some guy to take care of her.
(I can take care of myself, thanks!)
She rolled her eyes and replied, "Don't worry, dad, I'm not into that stuff. My only ambition is to become a champion!"
Turning her head without reassuring her father's reply, she scurried towards the path leading to Iki town as mentioned on TV. She bumped into a hard body, then halted, scratching her forehead.
"Ah, Y/N, don't be in such a hurry. You have plenty of time."
Y/N glanced at the big guy, realizing it was the professor, Kukui! He smiled at her stunned expression, as she was shocked to know that he knew her name!
"Y-You know me, professor?!" she stammered. He chuckled at the reply. "Why, of course. Didn't your father tell you we're buddies?"
Y/N couldn't find an answer to that, her opened mouth frozen. He continued, "He wasn't wrong, you're as forgetful as ever."
Her face bright red at this moment, she tried to dodge the awkwardness. "What do you mean by 'Don't be in such a hurry'?"
The professor blinked. "Well, you're an hour early for your starter-"
"But the news! I heard it started now!"
She could see the hidden mockery on his face as he said, "That was a year ago, Y/N. You must've watched the rewind."
She felt her mind face palming at this moment, then shook her head and laughed it off.
"Well, can I pick my starter now?"
"Of course, anytime. Follow me." He nodded reassuringly.
Y/N's heart started to pound hard. (Oh my gosh, oh my gosh! Finally, I was dreaming of this since i was a little kid! I can't believe this is real!)
The two arrived at the town, Y/N was surprised at how little people were here. She thought it would be crowded with kids, but the quiet scenery made her feel so underwhelmed. (This feels so much like home..)
"Sorry if this is so sudden, but I have to go for a while. I know you can handle being alone you big girl."
The professor walked away from Y/N, she lifted one eyebrow at the suspicious guy.
(Okay? I guess this'll take a while..)
"Hooray.."
Excitement suddenly faded from her spirit as she sat down on the wooden battle arena. She tried distracting herself, like taking pictures of the scenery. She then spotted a blonde girl that was scurrying over to a dark entrance of a lush forest. Y/N tried her best not to go, as she thought that she would miss her chance. (But it's so boring here..
I've got to see what's going on!)
Y/N lifted herself up and followed the mysterious girl. She didn't catch so much of her apperance, but she knew that she was in some trouble with her worried eyes gleaming.

Y/N arrived at the vague place. A zigzagging path rose into the sky, with trees lining up from the outside, relishing the soft breeze that rustled their leaves. Y/N's shoes were covered in sand from running, but not too fast, she didn't want to make the girl feel like she was being stalked. (Well, girl, I guess you're gonna be my toy for now,) came a cheeky thought from Y/N.
She felt the path get more and more wider, realizing she arrived at the end of it. In front of her, she saw a cliff with a wooden bridge hanging on both ravines. The girl was standing in horror, and Y/N saw her more clearly now. A big white sun hat sat on her head, and a pretty white skirt with a thick transperant outline waved gently, with some socks and crystal white flat shoes as an addition on the bottom. (This girl's all white, eh..)
The Spearow's squawking destroyed the calm space she was in before she could arrive. She noticed them pecking on some abnormal creature, though it looked troubled as well. (Why is she just standing there?!)
Y/N walked slowly and felt the girl flinch. (Oh crap, busted.)
She turned her head, her expression yelling "Help!".
"Please.. Save Nebby!"
She couldn't bother ask why Y/N was here, Y/N understood well. Y/N darted to the bridge, although fear stabbed her spine. She felt like falling every time she took a step, but she fastened her pace as she couldn't handle seeing the creature suffer anymore.
When she finally arrived, she tried to shoo the Spearow away, but Y/N felt like they were trapped with cuffs around the so called "Nebby" the girl was talking about. (Maybe it's food to them? I never knew Spearow were pretadors!)
Pushing her unnecessary discovery away, she tried to protect Nebby by shielding it with her back, and gave the creature a nod of reassurance. It didn't look too convinced, as it heard the cracking noise of the bridge. Y/N's heart felt like it skipped a pound.
The wooden piece underneath them was cut in half, making both of Y/N and Nebby helpless. Y/N screamed in horror, hearing the ravine's water roaring louder and louder as it grabbed her closer. Nebby felt like an earthquake in her grip, as it quivered harder than ever.
(Hey I'm scared, too, yknow! Don't expect anything from me at this point!)
The blonde girl yelled in horror as well, feeling feeble and useless. "I should've not sacrificed her! This is all my fault!"
A screeching noise broke the tension between everyone, then the girl saw a dashing thunder bolt heading towards the open space, then lifted Reem when she was close to hitting the rocks that jutted out of the water.
(What-)
Y/N looked down for one moment, and the rocks seemed hungry for the victims as she flew backwards. She was still dazed, then she was thrown off the ground with the girl. She felt a hard stab in her arm, letting Nebby escape from her grip.
"Pew!" it said in astonishment.
Y/N felt like falling into the ravine would be so much better. Her whole body felt like it was going to fall apart as she tried to lift herself up with so little effort. She stared at the two bodies for a moment. She recognized the girl, of course, but then the other one looked too odd. It was a human-like shape, but with some huge shields stuck on its arms. It screeched boldly again that it made Y/N jump.
"Hey, not cool, man!"
The two of them watched it fade in distortion. Y/N felt a warm hand trying to lift her up. She felt it was much easier now, then finally stood up. (Following her was a bad idea..)
"A-Are you okay?" she stammered, her tone was in genuine fear.
"What do you think?" Y/N replied curtly. The girl's concerned expression vanished, replacing it with a feeble smile.
(Maybe I was too hard on her..)
"I saved your.. Thing." You gave Nebby an unreadable expression.
"Pew!" Nebby cheered, its glowing eyes were like two moons in the daylight.
"I owe you lots, really, I am so sorry if you're hurt, it's really impolite of me!"
She quickly shoved the tiny creature in her bag, leaving it squeak a little.
"You've done enough trouble already, Nebby!" she scolded. Y/N's expression became more friendly, brushing off her grumpiness for now. She didn't want to make another dismissive comment, so she replied, "Hey, it's okay. It's my fault for being too curious.
Also.. Why are you keeping that thing in your bag?"
Y/N sensed a dodgy comment coming out of her. She shook her head and smiled awkwardly. "It likes to be inside of it, actually," she claimed.
Y/N tried not to push her too much, but before Y/N can say anything, she continued, "Say, why did you follow me?"
"Oh yeah, Professor Kukui's taking too long to give me my starter. I can't believe i've been praising him all these years and then he makes me wait longer!" the girl chuckled at your attitude, Y/N let out a snort as she continued, "In my opinion, Alola's a little weird. Do people here often show off their 6 pack in public?" The girl shook her head and covered her mouth in a giggle.
"Well, it is normal around here. You'll get used to it,"
Trying not to make the conversation any longer, she walked away, clearly pointing out that it's time to move on. Y/N followed her to the never ending path, trying your hardest not to complain about your aching arm as you listened to her chattering. "You seem like a reliable person, Y/N. It's good to have a dream of your own."
The girl's voice faded at the end of her sentence. Y/N didn't have the confidence to ask her about it, instead she let the eeriee of the forest talk for herself.
