Newt sighed in frustration as he watched his niffler scurrying around the centre of the room in circles. Tina strolled in with her arms folded and leant against the door frame.
"What are you doing here?" She asked. "I've told Graves that you're out there looking for Credence."
"I was." He replied, standing up and stretching. "But Jacob volunteered to take my place instead." He walked over to her and kissed her on the cheek. "I wanted to see if something would work, anyway. I had a plan..." He trailed off.
"What plan?"
"I thought that I could use one of my creatures to track Credence down."
"The same way we found Graves last time?"
"Yes. I was sure it would work. Especially since I've been trying to use the niffler; he'd gotten hold of Credence's necklace shortly before he went missing. I thought that the niffler would be able to find it again."
"How's it going?"
"It's not." Newt sighed again. "I think that Grindelwald has put up a protection around the two of them. The poor niffler is just getting confused."
Graves suddenly walked into the room from behind Tina and turned to face the two of them with a questioning stare.
"It's alright, Graves, Jacob and Queenie are out looking for him." Newt spoke softly as Tina gave him a worrying glance. They could see that the man had been crying.
"I thought I told you to sleep-" Tina began once they received no answer but was cut off as the niffler suddenly sprung from the ground and leapt onto Graves.
Graves cried out as he toppled over, landing on his back and struggling to try and throw the creature off of him. It was rummaging around in his pocket and when he finally managed to pull it off, it scampered away with its paws wrapped around the ring he had managed to find there.
Newt bent down and quickly picked up the niffler, stuttering as he tried to apologise for his niffler's behaviour.
His eyes fell on the ring as he pulled it away from its grasp and Tina leant over his shoulder to stare at it, too. The atmosphere in the room suddenly turned cold as everyone froze where they were: Graves on the ground; Newt holding the ring; and Tina leaning on his arm. Even the niffler had frozen, still held in Newt's hand.
"Oh Percival..." Newt broke the silence and looked at the man in front of him with pity.
Graves stood up slowly and held out his hand, glaring at the two of them. "I would like my property back, please, Mr Scamander." He tone was rigid and forceful. Newt handed the ring back and Graves put it away in his pocket again quickly as Newt put the niffler back in his case.
"Graves..." Tina began. "Were you going to ask Credence-"
She cut herself off as she saw Graves place a finger to his lips and shake his head.
"Don't finish that question, please. But yes, I was going to surprise him." He paused for a second, swallowing back even more tears and cursing himself internally for being so emotional. "I would prefer it if you didn't mention this to Queenie or Jacob." He said, before turning and beginning to walk out of the room.
"Of course." Newt muttered. "It's your business."
"Graves." Tina called after the man. He froze at the door to the room but didn't turn to look at her as she continued to speak. "I'm sorry." She hesitated slightly. "We will find him, though."
The man nodded slightly before strolling back to his own room, leaving Newt and Tina alone before closing the door behind him.
Newt stared at the ground, unconsciously fiddling with his own ring on his left hand. Tina walked over to him and wrapped her arms around him, holding him close and burying her head into his chest.

Credence jumped as a voice behind him startled him.
Grindelwald's voice.
"That little trinket won't work, you know."
He felt a sinking feeling in his stomach as he turned to face the man.
"I don't know what you mean." He said as he quickly tucked the necklace under his shirt.
"You know perfectly well what I mean." Grindelwald sauntered closer to him, reaching out a hand and- ignoring how Credence flinched- reached out and pulled the necklace off of his neck, almost snapping the chain. "You've kept it all these years." There was a hint of humour is his voice. "I'm touched."
"It's not like I kept it in memory of you or anything."
"Yes you did. Graves has only found a use for it in the past couple of days. You would've thrown it out long ago if you didn't want to keep it in memory of me."
Credence hesitated. "We kept it in memory of what we went through together."
"Yes, well... like I said, it doesn't work here. I charmed us, remember?"
"How could forget?" Credence huffed, rolling his eyes.
"Anyway. I brought you food, if you're interested. Nothing too much, but I thought that you would be hungry."
"Am I supposed to say thank you?" Credence demanded, crossing his arms over his chest and standing up straighter. However, he couldn't help himself from glancing at the sandwich that had appeared on the table in the middle of the room while his mouth began to water.
"Well if you don't want it..." Grindelwald picked it up and raised it to his mouth, about to take a bite, before Credence rushed forward and snatched it out of his hands, shovelling it into his own mouth.
There was a moment of silence as Credence chewed and swallowed the food down; a look of sheepish determination plastered onto his face as Grindelwald stared at him with an eyebrow raised. A look of pure humour and interest.
"I never said that." Credence said when he'd finished eating.
"That's what I thought." Grindelwald turned and took a glass out of a cupboard and ran it under the tap, filling it with cloudy, lukewarm water. He placed it in Credence's hand. "Here, take this to wash it down. You could've choked, you idiot." He rolled his eyes at the look of disgust Credence had as he stared down at the water. "Like I said: conditions will improve once I get us out of the country. For now, you're just going to have to get used to it."

So as you can see, this story is going to be longer than the first. In all honesty, I don't really know how I got here.
It started off just writing TSS because I was annoyed at what happened to Credence and wanted to write how I thought the story should've gone for him (not that I don't love the film or anything). Now I'm here: writing a sequel based on events that I've thought up myself.
I'm going in blind here, really. I haven't got a book or film as a layout.
But it's fun.
Anyway, I love feedback so please comment and tell me what you think. Vote, follow me, if you want.
Just as a reminder there are Spanish and Italien versions of my stories. You can find them in my reading list if you wanna go check them out. (Honestly, I'm really grateful of the translators: you guys are great.)
Anyway. One last thing. I'm on Christmas break after next Friday for two weeks and I was thinking: how would you like it if I tried to write and upload a chapter everyday over that amount of time? Would you like that or would that just be really annoying?
