January
If you told me ten years ago that gay people need to stay in the hush hush or shouldn't be gay at all I wouldn't have argued with you. I'm straight but when you're a man and you fall in love with your homosexual friend, all the things you believed in suddenly sound silly. God brought Gregory in to my life for a reason, though I'm not sure what that is yet, and everything I've been reading in the Bible just didn't add up after meeting him. God loves all his children but being gay is a sin? Gregory is the perfect example of being gay not being a sin.
Just weeks after I found him starving to death in an awful facility, Gregory asked if I went to church and wanted to go hear the youth choir sing. I was worried they would kick him out for being himself, but they seemed to love the daylights out of him. The priest even wanted to baptize him. All the girls at our school would gather around him and asked if their outfits made them look fat. Tell you the truth I was jealous of him. He became popular in only a few weeks. The maids loved him. And it felt like the only reason my friends came over was to hang out with Gregory.
Then one day, I think that's the day I realized how much I needed him, I went out to get my dry cleaning. Mostly 'cause I needed a reason to get out of that big 'ol house of mine.
"What do you mean you don't have my grey shirt!?" I shouted at Mr. Hishi, the owner of the cleaners.
"No shirt, you only give me two shirts!" Mr. Hishi shouted back. He was old and he could barely see out his big circular glasses. Unlike mine, which make me look sexy.
"No, I gave you three shirts!" I yelled pointing to the shirts I was given. "Those and a grey button up shirt!"
"I no have your shirt!" He shouted slamming his hand on the desk separating us.
"You yes have my shirt!" I shouted back doing the same he did.
"You go or I call powees!" He picked up the phone.
"You no dare call powees!"
"You wanna go blonde! You brat! I dial nine one one!"
"Fine I go, but I take picture of Bruce Lee!" I grabbed my shirts and a picture of the actor.
"Fine, he do too many crappy movies anyway!"
I stormed out that low life garbage place and threw the Bruce Lee picture in the trash. That is the last time I go to the dry cleaners.
I walked down the sidewalk until I came up to my favorite store. I looked in and saw all the toys, gadgets and gizmos wondering what I wanted more. I came across a stuffed puppy with Gregory's head on it. I turned around to see him and one of my friends on the other side of the street.
"Oh, hey January!" Yuma called out waving her arm at me. Gregory looked over to me with his scared feral brown eyes. "We were just out shopping and we're wondering if these jeans made his butt look big!" Yuma continued taking out some skinny jeans from a purple bag. "Come over and we'll settle it!"
Everyone on the streets was looking at me at this point and girls near me were squealing over Gregory's completely red face. I grumbled under my breath as I walked across the street when the sign said walk. But of course the moment I was in the middle of the street I heard a truck's horn. I turned to see a huge truck speeding toward me. It happened so fast I froze and didn't move. Then I felt something push me out of the truck's way. It was like slow motion. I looked to see Gregory was what was pushing me out of the way. We fell to the hard cold cement and Gregory was on top of me not moving. Yuma screamed and the truck driver apologized.
"Hey..." I shook. This was the first time I almost died and someone was about to take my place. "Kid... Come on... Get up..." Nothing. "Someone call an ambulance!"
I glared down at this bafoons unconscious body as the machine beep beeped, annoying the hell out of me. His leg was elevated and almost everyone from school signed his cast. All I put was 'Thanx' with no name. It's embarrassing a scrawny gay boy saved my life. But I owed him one. As dumb and embarrassing he was he saved my life. I need him to be alive so I can pay him back.
Finally, Gregory's hand twitched and his eyes slowly opened. He looked over to look at me then his leg.
"What... What happened...?" He choked.
"Truck driver was eating, he was also speeding and didn't see where he was going." I answered. "You saved my life." I blushed looking away.
"You saved mine, it's only natural I push you out of the way of a truck." Gregory sat up making a face.
"Getting you out of that facility was by chance." I explained. "I did what was right, I didn't get you out for your benefit, now what is it you want most in the world?"
"Nothing you can give, I'm sad to say."
"You want to bet, I know the Queen personally, she can help out."
"The Queen...? Well... There is this one thing."
Oh dear God... I thought bitterly.
