My snow covered boots squeak against the gym floor as I run towards the section that belongs to my homeroom; 313. "H-h-hi J-J-Jess," I said shivering, and panting at the same time (if that is even possible).

"Hey Alex. You ok?" asked my best friend, Jessica.

I catch my breath and swallow. "Yeah. Just tired. I barely made it," I responded. She shakes her head and chuckles.

"Barely made it? No, mija. There's still 10 minutes left," she said, pointing at the clock above us. The clock indeed said: 7:50. I groaned.

"So, I ran for nothing?" I asked, exasperated.

"Yup," Jessica said, popping the 'p'.

"Ughh. I really thought it was 7:59. Oh well," I shrugged.

"Well anyways A, how was your Thursday?" Jessica asked, like she always does.

"Ehh, good. I read most of the time since I finished my homework early. How about yo-" I was cut off when someone crashed into me.

I fell backwards and into the mattresses. I groaned and rubbed my head, to see Jacob on top of me.

"Watch where you're going, you doofus!" I yelled, pushing him off me.

He landed with an "oomph."

I quickly got up, supporting myself with the wall. I brushed myself off, and turned towards Jacob who was still sprawled across the floor. "Serves you right," I mumbled, glaring at him.

He sat up, rubbing his eyes. "I'm sorry Alexa!! I didn't see you," he said the last part quietly. I rolled my eyes.

"Sure you didn't," I replied. "But don't worry I forgive you, it happens." I turned towards Jessica and she just looked at me in disbelief. I never forgave anyone. I just shrugged.

"I'm in a good mood today," I said swiftly. Then the bell rang. "Come on, let's go," I told Jessica, dragging her out of the gym, and towards our first class.

The rest of the day passed, slowly. Which means it was boring. The only
class that I had with Jess, was our first period, biology. The rest I had mixed with people who hated me, and people who thought I was crazy. Little did they know I was actually... insane. I made it to my locker and opened it. I shoved my morning class materials in and collected my afternoon classes belongings. Then I slammed my locker shut. As you can see, I am no longer in a good mood.

I stomped my way to the cafeteria, people moving aside as they caught sight of me. I made it to the lunch room, and people let me cut in line. I quickly paid for my lunch and marched outside to wait for Jess and the rest of my friends. As I cross the street, I hear something.

"Alex! ALEX!" I heard a voice yell.

But it's drowned out by the screech of brakes and the grinding metal on asphalt.

Darkness. That's what I see right now. I can't see anything. It's just a sea of pitch black. But somehow, I know I'm still alive. Suddenly, somewhere in this pitch black space of time, I hear someone speak.

"Alex? You're going to be ok," the person says in a soft voice. I know that many of most of my bones are broken, because after the person speaks, I can feel my bones mending back together, as I feel their hands move over my body. But that's when I can't even feel that anymore.
