kawaakari
(n.) the gleam of last light on a
river's surface at dusk; the
glow of a river in the darkness

Lydia stood staring down at the Rio Gardas river, she could see the sun setting in the distance, the last light shining upon the water in the most beautiful way. She wrapped her large sweater tighter around herself as the chilly night air bit at her bare legs.

Allison came up to stand beside her, not saying anything, just did the same as the strawberry blonde.

"I don't want to go home." Lydia whispered, not turning to look at the brunette, just continuing to look at the calm river.

"Why not?" Allison asked, tilting her head to the side curiously, she looked at the side of Lydia's face from her right, standing a little further back then her.

"Notice how nothing crazy or supernatural has happened in the week that we've been here? It's calm and peaceful here. I'd rather just stay here with you forever, buy one of those tiny houses, visit your dad every now and then, away from all the craziness and the death." Allison could see a small tear roll down Lydia's cheek, but the banshee quickly wiped it away.

The ex-huntress moved swiftly to stand in front of Lydia. "Don't cry..." She whispered, pulling Lydia in for a hug, "I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere, not again." Lydia pulled away from Allison slightly to look into the brunette's eyes.

The two didn't know what it was, but something in the other's eyes made them lean towards each other.

Lydia closed her eyes as she kissed Allison, nothing in her life had ever felt so right, nothing had ever felt as right as this since she met Allison, but even then, it was never quite right, because they were never meant to be 'just friends' they were always more, and they should have always been even more.

Lydia finally understood why Allison was back. Because despite everything, Lydia had done a lot of good for the world, and the world rewarded her with her soulmate, Allison Argent, alive, again.

Allison pulled away first, not that she wanted to, but for lack of breath.

"I think one of those tiny houses would be nice, despite the fact that I had no idea what they were until last week." The taller girl laughed, brushing some hair out of Lydia's face.

"I can hear what you're thinking..." Lydia giggled.

"And what am I thinking about?" Allison smirked while arching an eyebrow.

"You're doing that thing where people do, you know when you're testing out reading lips, and instead of saying I love you, saying elephant shoes, you're thinking elephant shoes I can't believe you." Lydia laughed anymore, and Allison could never love a laugh more, she thought that Lydia's laugh was the best sound she had ever heard.

"So I guess it's kind of like when I could see your dreams." Allison said, remembering back to that night their hotel at the beginning of their trip.

"Maybe it's a soulmate thing." Lydia smirked, staring into Allison's eyes.

"Maybe, I always thought that we were brought together by fate or destiny, what was that word again?" The brunette questioned.

"Yuanfen."

"I think that describes us perfectly."
