"Can I tell you a secret?" Harry whispered looking down at his heavy green jacket.

You nodded, unable to process words.

"It's hard to be brave sometimes."

"You will always be the bravest soldier I know." Your voice wavered uncontrollably.

Your words revealed Harry's dimpled smile. You took a picture of it in your mind as the train conductor called for the boys.He instantly took you in his arms and buried his face into you, and you did the same to him. You breathed in his warm, safe smell. The thickness of his regiment jacket darkened beneath your tears that you were doing your absolute best to hold in. You knew that as soon as Harry was out of sight, you would sit on one of the station benches for a while to let out your terrified emotion, but at that moment, you had to let him know that you were going to be okay, even if you knew you were far from. You looked at him and a flash of him bloody and dirty quilted your imagination.

After being pulled away from you by a few of his laughing friends, Harry ran back and pressed his lips to yours, holding you for a last time. Harry kissed you with the passion of love, and finality. He walked away quickly unable to bear his feet stepping away from you.

Before stepping into the train, Harry cried out a desperate "I love you".

You called it back to him, savoring the way the words tasted of hope. And that's the moment you feared to accept the green illuminance from Harry's eyes would not be the same the next time you saw him, if you ever did again. That's why you pushed through your tears to see them for the last time. The moment froze in a place only you two would remember. The face of the boy looking at you from the window of the train.. the train that may never return with the man who would never be the same.
