My Biography
2004
The first time I travelled to a different country I was three years old, Colorado, USA to Bern, Switzerland. I can only remember small details of that trip, one of my memories from that trip was that they had really good chocolate milk. We landed in Bern and moved into a small Apartment with a elevator that never really worked. We were surrounded by a beautiful landscapes made out huge mountains and historic buildings that are older than America. We lived there for a year and a half. When we moved to Germany we travelled with the train for a really long time and probably switched trains around 6 times until my Mom and I made it to our final destination, the city Kaiserslautern in Rheinland-Pfalz. The moment I stepped out of the train and was astounded by the busy place. So many people walking around, teenagers trying to catch their train that takes them home. What caught my eye was the beautiful people that spoke languages I have never heard before and wore clothes from their culture, so many faces with so many different stories that I would never get the chance to hear and understand because the possibility of ever meeting them again.
My Mom stressed that I should always be nice and respect everyone no matter what their religious beliefs were,no matter from what country someone came from and what language they spoke and no matter what they looked like and what their social status was. There was a saying my mom always said, “Man sieht sich im Leben immer zweimal,” which means, “Our path will cross again,” and is mostly used to say that you should treat everyone nice the first time because if you meet them again you might be the one begging for their help and respect. The day I moved to Germany I got to meet my Mother's parents, I remember that event pretty clear because I asked them what I should call them and if I should call them Grandma and Grandpa, but they told me to call them Mario and Benno, which were their names and I prefer calling people by their names. My Mother and I moved into one of the houses they owned and ate breakfast every morning with them. Marion always gave me a small toy with my breakfast and my Mother did not like it because she said that it would spoil me too much; Marion gave me a toy everyday for breakfast anyway. When my Mother and Marion worked, my mom would either take me with her to work or I stayed with Benno. He would take me to a café and we would walk through town.
After living in Marion and Bennos house for half a year we moved to a apartment that was in a suburb of the town Landstuhl where I lived for half a year. Looking back to that I think the only reason we moved was because my Mother really didn't want help from anyone else because she was a independent woman who doesn't like to be dependent on others, she didn't want to live in a house that she did not own. Once we moved to Atzel, I started going to daycare for the first time, at that time I was 5 and was pretty old and walk to one of the playgrounds that were around 5 minutes away. Most of the time there were many kids outside playing and that is how I meet my first friend, her name was Laura she was a year older then me and was tall for her age, she had long copper hair. We would ride our bikes through the streets and roller skate on the newly paved sidewalk. Sometimes a bunch of kids that lived on the same street and owned a bike would meet up and do a bike tour. The only rule we had was that everyone had to bring a backpack with something to drink and some type of candy that we would share with the group when we took a break. Most of the kids in our group were either Russian like Laura, American, German, or Turkish. It was fun to have a bunch of kids that spoke different languages because they would try and teach you their language. I remember that one time one of friends got in trouble from their mom for some reason and she was speaking Russian to her daughter my friend that was with me would whisper the translation in my ear so I understood what was going on.
For going to Daycare for the first time most of the kids in Germany start going to daycare at the age of two until they start school. The street I lived in had mostly apartment buildings. I had four playgrounds right in front of my house because each apartment building had a playground. I started going outside by myself when I was five years old, I would take the elevator down to the lobby.
June 2007
June 2007 was the first time I flew to the United States by myself, It was not really by myself had a flight assistance watch me, but it was the first time I flew without anyone that I knew. My English skills were non existing. I knew how to say that I am hungry and that I didn't feel well and that was about it. I forgot how to speak English after three month of living in Switzerland. Back then international flights still didn't have screens on every back of the seat on every plane and they had a show time because there was a few TVs for each row. The first flight I went was also a non stop flight which means it went right from Germany Frankfurt to Cincinnati Airport. Every time I tell people that I flew by myself they ask me questions like “Were you not scared ?” or “Was your mom not scared to let you go to America by yourself?” I think I was pretty mature for my age back then and I was not frightened from flying I was excited. My mom was not really worried about me flying by myself for the first time, I think it was because my mom thought I was mature for my age.flying by herself. I went up to her and talked to her and she asked me if I want to learn a card game that she plays at home in France a lot, of course I accepted her offer because I am also ready to learn something new. She starts setting everything up, explains to me how the card game is played and we start. What I did not expect was that she is so good and fast at that game that I didn't even had a chance to do anything. After less than 2 minutes she already won the whole game, of course I laughed and she laughed too. The next round she slowed down to give me a chance which did not really help me because I still lost but at least I learned how to play the game. In August 2013 my flight got delayed by 8 hours, I was stuck in Atlanta for a really long time and meet a few new people. There was a girl that was vegan and a boy that was 2-3 years younger than I was. We became friend over those 8 hours and later on asked a worker if they could switch our seats so we can all sit together. They did change the seats for us so we can sit together and talked about random things, the older girl had a professional camera with her and let me try it out and take pictures with it.
July 2007
In 2007 was when I entered first grade in Germany it is a big deal you get a huge cone with a bunch of candy and toys inside it and carry it around to show of how fancy and pretty your cone looks with many different colors. I didn't know anyone in my class because most of my friends were older and a grade above me or went to a different school. I remember sitting by myself for the first two months until the teacher moved Angelina and Anna next to me. Angelina had bright orange hair and was the smallest person in our class; Anna had long brown hair with bangs and was the same height as I was. Anna lived on the same street as I did, and we started meeting each other outside of school. Anna’s parents really liked me for some reason and were one of the nicest parents I had met at the time. I became really close with another girl that year, she moved in the apartment above me.

I came home from school and threw my backpack in the corner of my room, I walked to the kitchen to greet my mom. She gave me a kiss on the head and asked me if I am going to the apartment below me to visit a friend that lived there. I told her that I will be back for dinner and stormed out of our small apartment. What I didn't expect was finding out that the elevator got stuck. I banged my small hands against the door and asked if someone is in the elevator. A girl answered and told me that her hand is stuck and that she doesn't know how to open the elevator because she was too small to reach the emergency button that opens the elevator door. I told her to not do anything and that I was getting someone to open the elevator. I ran down three stories of stairs and rang the doorbell of the janitor. She opened the door and asked me what was wrong I told her what had happened and she went upstairs and unlocked the elevator with a key she only had. The girl that was stuck in the elevator told me that her name was Lashawn and talked about how it was her birthday and that I am invited to come as a thank you for getting her help and out of the elevator. Of course I agreed. I went back home to inform my mom where I was going. I was searching through the apartment to find a present to give to time new friend that I just made a few minutes. I packed different kinds of sweets in pretty present paper and made my way up to the apartment door where Lashawn told me she lived. Her older sister laughed when she found out that I gave Lashawn a bunch of candy, she told me it would have been okay to not bring anything because of the fact that I just meet Lashawn. We celebrated her birthday.
