The next morning, Yuri groggily opened his eyes, taking a moment to realize he wasn't in his dorm. He turned to find Viktor snuggled up against him.
"Oh my god," he whispered. He spent the night in Viktor's bed, and he didn't mind at all. He felt so light when Viktor touched him, was this a crush?
He never really was crazy about girls on high school. Everyone told him the right girl would come along, but he really wasn't interested in having a girlfriend. This was the first time he'd felt anything romantic towards a person before.
He felt Viktor shift as he woke up to greet him.
"Mornin' Yuri," he sighed. He didn't recoil from their current position, it seemed he didn't mind at all at their close proximity.
Viktor's roommate was practically a ghost, he never stayed at their dorm, so Yuri felt relieved that no one would catch them cuddling.
He went back to his own dorm to change for practice to find Phichit bombarding with questions.
"Did you spend the night with him?"
"Are you two a thing thing now?"
"Yuri give me the details!"
Yuri brushed off his questions and hurried to meet Viktor to walk down to the rink. He couldn't help notice how dashing he looking in his well fitting workout clothes.
When they arrived at the rink, their peppy American coach was with a couple kids they'd never seen before. The first boy was tall and brooding with a leather jacket to complete the look. Another much smaller kid peeked from behind him with a permanent scowl on his face. The blonde could fit in easily as a skater there, he was slender and lithe like a dancer.
"These are some high school students who you will be mentoring as they prepare for their senior debut,"
He gestured to the small kid, "this is Yuri Piletsky, he's a student at the private school not too far from here,"
"We also have a Yuri here, we can call him Yurio!" Viktor cheered.
"Don't call me that," Yurio scoffed.
The taller boy laid a hand on the boy's shoulder, shutting him up, "I'm Otabek Atlin, I'm sorry about my friend here, he's a brat when he's hungry,"
"Beka!" Yurio whined.
Viktor smiled at Yuri, "let's go out to eat later, to get to know each other!"
"Free food!" Yurio hollered.
After skating with the boys for a while, they all headed down to a pizza shop Viktor and Yuri found. The shop was quiet and laid back, which was perfect for Yuri.
The boys stuffed themselves with pizza as they chatted. Yurio's mood changed drastically as he talked about his cat Mushka. Otabek stared at Yurio with a soft look on his face the whole time, making Yuri wonder if they were more than friends.
His mood fell immediately. He wanted something more with Viktor, but he was so afraid. His parents would be so disappointed if he came out as gay. His mother might accept him eventually, but his father was so conservative.
He felt someone grasp his hand from under the table. Viktor could always tell when something was wrong.
"Let's get out of here," he whispered to Yuri.
After saying goodbye to the boys and heading to the dorm, Viktor asked if he'd like to hang out in his dorm.
"Uh, y-yeah,"
They sat together in silence before Viktor spoke up,
"Yuri, are you okay?"
He couldn't hold it in anymore, tears streamed down his cheeks as Viktor pulled him close.
"You don't have to tell me, I'm here for you no matter what,"
Maybe someday he'd get the courage to tell Viktor how he felt.
** ...the end of the chapter is kinda personal, I'm feeling exactly what Yuri is here. Hopefully next year in college I won't be so ashamed of who I like and be happier.
Anyway, I hoped you liked how I portrayed Yurio and Otabek!!!**
