Salvaging things underwater became a habit of mine. Living on Earth started to become more familiar to me. It's been six months since I lost Chamber. I've tried making a Diver Yunboro connect with Chamber's communication terminal, but got no results. Whenever I was feeling down and didn't visit Amy at our usual meeting spot, she usually knew where to find me. She then would cheer me up by smiling and laughing.
"Hey there, Ledo!" I blinked, looking around myself. I saw a bunch of old and rusty looking buildings and equipment. I remember I was on the Gargantia, a huge fleet of ships that traveled around Earth. I was sitting on the roof of a small house the late Captain of Gargantia let me stay in. It was a little beat up and rundown, but it was near the edge of the starboard side of the ship where the wind smelled the sweetest.
"Amy," I said, looking down at her. She smiled as I jumped down from the roof.
"Walk with me," she said, walking away from my house. I followed, interpreting what she said. I hadn't fully gotten used to the Earth language, but knew enough of it to speak with others. But without Chamber I couldn't fight the whalesquid or Earth Hideauze. Hideauze were space creatures that were a enemy of man kind.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"Into town," she answered. "Come on, you need to spend some of that money you got from scavenging all that treasure from inside the whalesquid nest." I nodded and she started running. I followed her through tunnels and down a few staircases. We finally made it to a small village center lined with shops. I looked and watched Amy greet all the people with a smile. She went over to a stand selling small charms and looked at one. It was a small glass chipmunk with a silver chain attached to the top of its head. I walked over and she smiled at me.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing," she said. "Have a look around. You have the money to buy stuff, so why don't you?"
"I will," I said. "But not yet." She giggled and ran over to other stands. I looked at the chipmunk keychain and held out the correct amount of money for it.
"May I have that?" I asked, pointing to the keychain. The salesperson nodded and handed it to me in exchange for the money. I put it in my pocket and trailed behind Amy. It was late in the afternoon now, around 3 or 4 o'clock. Amy and I went to one of the balcony's near the edge of the ship, letting the two of us be alone. We leaned against the railing and faced the sea.
"Did you get anything?" Amy asked, looking at me. I pulled the keychain out of my pocket and handed it to her. Her eyes widened and she smiled brightly.
"It's a gift," I said. "You deserve it. You've helped me out the passed eight months and maybe ever while I had just landed on Earth, too." She smiled and looked away.
"Thanks," she said. I nodded and looked out towards the ocean. "I have a question," Amy turned to me. I looked at her. "Do you know what a kiss is?"
"A kiss?" I repeated. "I have never heard such thing before."
"Oh," she said, looking down. "Close your eyes."
"What?" I asked. "Why?"
"Just do it!" she looked at me and I sighed, doing what she asked. Nothing happened during the first few seconds my eyes were closed. Just then I felt Amy's breath on my face and my eyes shot open. I fell backwards and Amy turned away, blushing.
"What was that for?" I exclaimed, getting up.
"You opened you eyes!" she said back, not turning around. "Close your eyes and this time don't open them!!" I sighed, rubbing the back of my head as I shut my eyes. I was expecting the worse, but soon felt something press against my lips. I then realized Amy had put her lips against mine. My body tingled and I lifted my hand to put around her neck. Her body stiffened a little, but I left my hand there. A few seconds later she pushed herself away and I opened my eyes to see her face only inches from mine.
"You make my body tingle," I said to her.
"That was a kiss," she said, her eyes avoiding my gaze. "You learned something new today."
"When do you do this kiss?" I asked.
"When you truly love the person your with," Amy said. "But if you kiss one girl, you can't kiss another unless you break up."
"Break up?" I repeated. Amy sighed.
"Down here on Earth we have these terms boyfriend and girlfriend," she said. "A girlfriend is the one girl who is most important to the boy and vise versa. You can be friends with other girls and boys the same time, though. I..." She stopped and looked directly at me. "I want you to be my boyfriend, Ledo."
"How does that make our relationship different?" I asked.
"It means we're more protective of each other," Amy said. "I love you and-" she stopped again. "Do you love me?"
"Love?" I asked.
"You have strong feelings for me more than friendship," Amy said. "Do you love me?"
"I love you, Amy," I said, wrapping my arms around her. I put my forehead against hers and closed my eyes. She leaned against me, letting my hold her in my arms. Suddenly a alarm started blaring. We jumped and I pulled out my laser gun. I looked around and then saw people running around, shouting to one another.
"That alarm," she said. "A pod of whalesquid?!"
"Everyone take cover!" someone shouted. Just then everyone heard a bunch of static.
"Hello?" a woman's voice asked. "This is a emergency lockdown. No one make a single movement or else we'll all be toast." The ship engine stopped, all the lights staring to go out. Amy and I looked over the railing at all the whalesquid silhouettes under the surface of the glowing water. I then saw a bunch of them carrying something under them. I leaned over the railing to get a closer look. When I saw what it was, I wish I never saw it in the first place.
It was my Space Yunboro, Chamber.
