It was just another day at the survey corps headquarters, the early morning sun was shining, the birds chirped a sweet song and for a brief moment everything felt peaceful in the world, except for Squad Leader (Y/N), who was anything but that. Why? No other reason except that her two best friends in the survey corps Petra and Hanji somehow got the idea that you were in love with no other than Commander Erwin Smith himself. Complete garbage, is what you would want to say about such a thing but something inside you prevented you from saying it. The reason being they weren't so far away from the truth, but like hell you would swallow your pride and admit it.
"No way in hell!" you denied once more while making your way towards the dining hall through the empty hall with Hanji and Petra behind you.
"Oh please!" Petra spoke up "Who do you think you're kidding? He's the earth and heaven to you!"
"No he's not! He's just Commander Smith period!"
"You're horrible at lying (Y/N)" Hanji said "We can see right through you! We know how you really feel so just say it!"
"No chance! No way! I won't say it! No and no!" You said entering the now empty dining hall
"Oh come on (Y/N)! Every time you see him you swoon and sigh like a school girl! Why deny it?"
"One I do not! Two that was way too cliché Petra! Three says the girl that's head over heels over Lance Corporal Grumpy McShorty!"
"Hey! At least I admit it!" Petra said with pink cheeks
"Yeah! Why don't you do the same already?! It's too obvious!"
"Oh shut it Hanji! I don't say it because it isn't true! Now drop it!" You said as you grabbed your tray with today's breakfast and sat down on the first table you saw, Hanji and Petra following.
"No we won't drop it! Face it you love him!" You slammed your hands down at the table
"No I don't!" You were starting to lose your temper and considering that you were ranked the second person with shortest temper in the survey corps after the Lance Corporal that was very dangerous. Your companions flinched back slightly at your outburst but regained their composure quickly, knowing that they were not in any danger yet. You sighed collecting yourself and taking a spoon full of whatever the slop they had served as an excuse for breakfast today.
"Besides having a relationship right now would be a mistake and you guys know it. Sure, it feels so good when you start out but then comes the expedition and BAM! You're crying your heart out in your room afterwards" Petra and Hanji looked at each other knowing that unfortunately that was the reality of the situation but they weren't about to give up.
"We know that but (Y/N) but can't keep denying who you are and how you feel. You practically see stars for him! Face it you've got it bad for him!" Petra said with those kind eyes that practically look at your soul and innermost thoughts.
"No chance, no way, I won't say it."
"Oh give it up already!" Hanji pleaded
"No!" In that moment both of them sighed and started eating their breakfast in defeat while you smiled relieved they finally stopped their rant and continued to eat in blissful silence.
Halfway through your meal the doors of the dining hall opened to reveal Lance Corporal Levi Ackerman and Commander Erwin Smith themselves. As they made their way to pick up their breakfast, they passed by your table. Lance Corporal Levi, as usual, only took a brief glance before clicking his tongue and looking ahead, while Commander Erwin on the other hand gave a small but charming smile.
"Good Morning Hanji, Petra, (Y/N)" You couldn't help but look down and grin at the gesture, there was just something about the way your name rolled off his tongue that felt so right.
