That wolf is Wolfe <3 ----->

And this is dedicated to Noemi for helping me choose!

Cat's POV

It didn't register with me that I'd just gone crazy for no reason other than he'd stopped me from leaving my room until Wolfe jerked me against him and snarled in my ear.

I've figured out the wolves tend to "snarl", "growl", and "rumble" a lot.

"Go." He growled at Johnny.

Giving me a cold glare, he turned and stalked out.

I snarled, clawing at Wolfe's hands. Inside, I was horrified by what I was doing; what the hell was wrong with me? Lashing out like this, striking people who haven't really hurt me…but as I thought about it, I realized what my problem was; I was caught, trapped, again. To my wolf, to me, this was unacceptable, something to be fought with everything in me—don't get me wrong, I was going to fight, but this…all Johnny had done was follow orders, really.

I tried to bite Wolfe, and he yanked me harder against him, clenching his arm. I yipped in pain, and then covered it with a hiss.

"That's enough!" Wolfe snapped, "What the hell are you doing?"

I kicked my head back, trying to hit his jaw, but his other hand twisted in my hair, drawing my head forward. I strained against his hand, but he shoved it forward until my head was touching my collarbone. "Cat, tell me what's wrong."

"No." I replied.

My hair was falling over my face, into my eyes.

"Cat—"

"Let me go."

Wolfe sighed, thumb massaging my head.

"I don't want to hold you like this; I want to hold you in my arms the way you were meant to be. But disobedience cannot be tolerated."

His hand had been going slack on my head, not using much pressure to keep it down. I jerked it back, bringing my foot down on his at the same time. He grunted in pain, his arms loosening on me. I jumped forward, heading out the door. I heard him stumble after me, become more confident in his strides. I started to run, passing the wolves lazing around on my floor. They looked up when I passed but they didn't move beyond that. Once I was out my front door, I took off down the street, heading toward the neighborhood. My shoes pounded on the pavement, drawing out a rhythm. I concentrated on that, instead of the questions rolling around in my head.

It was times like these when I wish I had my iPod.

"Cat!" I heard, but I sped up.

Couldn't he tell I didn't want to talk to him?

"Please, Cat! Listen to me." there was something wrong with his voice...

'Disobedience will not be tolerated…' In what way does he have authority over me? He may be the Alpha of the local pack, but I am the Alpha of myself. I do not take orders.

"The more you run, the more aroused I get." I heard the growl, the sound more the wolf than the man. And as I turned the corner into the main neighborhood, I had an epiphany. If he thought I was his mate, then his wolf didn't think of this as me being an angry, terrified wolf running away, he thought of this as me starting the Mating Dance. Which meant if the man lost control completely, he would try a whole lot harder to catch me…and mate me.

I also just realized, in a wave of utter horror, that at the first sign of trouble, I'd broken my vow and ran. God, I was such a coward.

But it was too late to stop now; if I stopped, Wolfe wouldn't hesitate to throw me on the ground and take me, in view of everyone. That's what the Mating Dance does; lucky me.

"How's it going back there?" I gasped, trying to take my mind off of the race for freedom.

"A very nice view." the whisper was right at my ear, so close i could feel the puff of warm breath.

I let out a strangled shriek, veering sharply to the right.

Wolfe chuckled, but for some reason he let me do it.

It took about five seconds for me to figure out why.

He was enjoying the Hunt.
