Chapter 4

I follow the lonely road diligently before I see lights up ahead that look like it could be some city strip. It’s the perfect hangout for Allegra. The both of us have always had a few things in common: the fact that we always fall in love for the ones we can’t have, we are masterminds at manipulation, and we both love a good party. I lose her trace for awhile as the street smells waft through my nose. It can be difficult to distinguish a specific scent among billions of others, but I pick it up as I move over to a spacious sidewalk where numerous people are walking by aimlessly; her scent is the unmistakable smell of pure seduction and revenge. She travels on foot now which means that her car must be parked nearby just out of eyesight. Her smell trickles across the sidewalk like poison that has just been spilled out of it’s vile. I swear one could see toxic vapors rise up above the sidewalk if their eyes were just slightly more advanced than mine.

She must be looking for a bite to eat, I conclude as her scent drifts down a street filled with strip clubs, bars, and a few low-life department stores. I wouldn’t mind a snack of my own honestly. My night with Collins drained the energy from the blood I took earlier from the bouncer, and its getting late. I could use a little spark to get me going. Plus, if it does come to a fight with Allegra, She’ll have the advantage if she is full fed, and that is something I cannot afford. She is not as talented in skill as I am given my background after our father died and the both of us left the house, but she is much stronger then myself. If I am to beat her, I must play every advantage to the max.

Paying closer attention, I notice that a few of the side streets have been blocked off, and all the people who are out at this hour seem to be flocking to one place. Not far off, I can hear loud music, the purring of car engines, and the voices of what seems to be a large group of people. Casually following the others as if I know what I am doing, I reach the end of the block and there is a wide, long stretch of road littered with side parking lots filled with expensive street racing cars, people drinking and partying, and lots of hoes. I already knew street racing was popular in Miami, but it never really sunk in that it existed I guess because I have never stumbled upon a race or anything.

No wonder Allegra is here. She was always into racing cars; she is one hell of a driver too! That is probably mostly because she is absolutely fearless, but what has she to be scared of? She hardened her heart to making friends or lovers after I killed her lover. It wasn’t my fault though! He wasn’t who she thought he was! Someday you’ll get the story in detail, but right now I am too focused on spying on my infuriating sister. Why did she have to show up now of all times? I was just beginning to enjoy having the planet to myself, and I had almost forgot about being and having to avoid being killed by her crazy ass.

I don’t find her there and the trail seems to stop in an empty car lot. Suddenly, I figure out why I don’t see her. She’s in one of the races, and I can tell it’s about to start. I may not like my sister, but I have always enjoyed watching her drive. It truly is a spectacle to see. I find a spot in the back of the crowd so she doesn’t spot me, even though she might have figured out I was already here, but I don’t think so yet.

Her car is definitely flashy. It’s one of the racecar models, and it is a dark, whine-red color with black designs stretched out across the hood. On the back is a bumper sticker that reads Kiss my ass, and you still don’t have a chance. She has always been fan of amusing quotes too, but I always think they’re a distraction that takes the beauty away from the car. A girl wearing hardly anything steps onto the track, her arms raised in signal that the race is about to start. She stands there, fearless of the rumbling engines in front of her and I give her props for that. Anything could go wrong and she could be dead in a heartbeat, but when she throws her arms downward, the cars are off in a flash and already rounding the corner before anybody can even figure out who is in the lead…well, anybody with normal vision that is.
