Hey guys! So I have been thinking a lot lately about something I've wanted to write for a while, but haven't really thought about starting it, and decided that I might as well now. So I wrote the prologue, which is what I'm going to be showing you right now. This is a Carl Grimes fanfic so it's not that different from anything I've ever written before (since all my writing is about Carl and Chandler lol). But I'd really like for all of you to check this preview out and read the authors note after the prologue informing you a little more about this story and some other stuff as well.

Okay so I hope you all enjoy the prologue, also plz stay and read the authors note after. Thanks!!

It was just another day like the others. Sort of.

I woke up in a warm bed, feeling confused at how clean and comfortable I felt. My mind instantly felt panicked at how unfamiliar this was. The thoughts of something bad was about to happen fazed me, and I had pounced to the side, looking for my weapons. Looking for anything that was mine. My cold blue orbs snapped open within seconds, and they scowled at the dark surroundings, searching for anything or anyone that was known to them.

To me, this had always felt like a trap. Like none of it was real. Like waking up in the warm comforts of a bed that I was allowed to call mine was not right, nor was it safe.

I had always felt this suspicion toward my new home. Everything just screamed that something was off with this place. The people were one of the main omens.

We've only been here for a little bit of time, maybe over a week, and yet I could already tell how most of these people are. They always acted so friendly and caring, yet stupid and dangerous at the same time. They were stupid when it came to the world outside these gates. They don't know how to survive. They were dangerous to be around, because you just knew that you couldn't count on them to save you. To help you in a life or death situation. They would just run off and leave you there. Leave you there to die by either bullets fired by enemies, or by the cold mouths from the dead.

It's already happened.

My eyes found themselves on a dark object resting on the ground, slightly illuminated from the blinding light coming from behind the dark blue curtains. Bending over, I let my hands wrap around the soft material of my hat. I straightened up, and plopped my hat onto my head. After minutes of searching for my weapons, I realized that I still hadn't had my gun, for the people that me and my group are now living among took them. It was a precaution, they said.

What kind of precaution is that? We're useless withought our weapons. They're one of the biggest keys to our survival.

Quickly grabbing my knife from the dark wooden side table, I marched quietly toward my bedroom door, making sure not to wake anyone. My dad surely wouldn't let me leave this early. Especially if he knew I was leaving the safety of Alexandria.

My dad and I weren't exactly together on our thoughts about this place. Yet we also weren't against each other. He thinks the same as me, that the people here aren't safe, that they're stupid and dangerous. But he also thinks that living here is safer than being outside, where the walkers are.

I'm completely against that. It's the people that we should fear. Sure, the walkers are also a dangerous threat, but I'd rather live out there, among the dead, than in this caged in community. My group can survive out there. We know how to. We can survive living with the walkers. But in here. With these people. More of us will surely die.
