It was a cold autumn day in Brighton. Currently 11:05am.
I was driving. On my way to a new life for myself.
I was ready to begin volunteering for a mental health institute. I have registered for it around a week ago.
It is sort of frightening. All of these people being held in captivity because they see things or hear things that other people don't.
What if those people are normal? What if you're no paying attention to the world around you to notice the little things like this?
It hurts my heart and it aches my mind.
I pulled into the mental institution's parking lot.
The sky was gray and the world was daunting. Even though I am not one to look at the melancholic side of things.
Although I love to help others. Especially those in need of said help. That's why I'm here.
I'm here to help them and give them an actual caring friend and not just a nurse.
It's called love for others.
----
Inside the building was a lobby type area. I guess if you're visiting a relative who is located here it makes sense.
It was a well decorated place.
It wasn't depressing. It was lit nicely, flowers bloomed lovely on the front desk; this place reminded me of a retirement home.
It's hard to believe what a disappointing place this is.
But, it's nice. Hard for me to say but it is true. Some patients are being cured and helped for. Just not succeeding.
I stay positive and walk up to the front desk.
I am greeted by a woman with half moon glasses, short and fluffy gray hair, and a cute purple floral dress that matched her necklace.
"Hello sir!" She said politely, "Who are you here to visit?"
"I'm here to volunteer, my name is Felix. Felix Kjellberg."
The woman slowly typed my name in on the computer in front of her. She read the screen.
"Here it is," Her crispy voice spoke, "Please follow me."
She got up out of her chair and walked me to a meeting room. There was yet another desk and computer in the small tight room.
She told me to take a seat and wait. She left the room and I sat there in silence.
Decorated the room were brain symptoms and diagrams. Eery and creepy they were, making me uncomfortable.
The woman entered the room, calming my nerves. She dropped a peach colored file in front of me.
"This is the patient you will be caring for."
I looked at the unopened files, "Only one?"
"I am so sorry sir but this job is taken by many so far. Along with you being knew, we wouldn't appreciate having to fill up your plate."
I sighed heavily and opened up the first file. There stood an image of a young adult male.
He frowned depressingly in the photo, his ocean blue eyes shined with sadness.
He had a chocolate brown hair and a beard, the top of his head struck me with his hair dyed green.
"Why is his hair green?"
"He claims he was forced to be like.. Him..."
I gave her a confused look and she nodded at the folder.
I read of the man.
Seàn William McLoughtlin was suffering from insomnia, hallucinations, and muteness.
"I don't understand, muteness?"
The woman sighed and placed her hand upon my shoulder, "He does not speak. Ever since he has been experiencing his hallucinations he has never spoken."
"What does he hallucinate?"
"All we know is that it is someone he is deadly afraid of. Someone who's scared him."
"How do you know this?"
"He draws us pictures. This hallucination, he hurts him, harasses him, speaks to him."
