Chapter 8: The Tears of the Fairy Queen

Now is were the sad part starts, I admit that I shed like 20 tears writting this :P

NATSU POV

I run to Lucy’s side, lifted her from the ground and pressed her to my chest.

_ Lucy baka _ I whispered the sleeping beauty in my arms _ I almost die for worrying _

Erza and Gray were watching, the first one was red as a tomato and the second was trying hard not to laugh.

But I didn’t care, I had Lucy, that was enough to my.

Then Wendy came with both of the cats and Cordelia, the old lady was walking with a glass similar to the one in the mirror wrapped in silk and a bag with money.

_ Here, your payment _ She said leaving the bag and the mirror in the floor _ Be sure to give the mirror to the celestial mage when she wakes up _

_ Why are you giving the mirror to Lucy? _ Asked Erza confused.

Cordelia sobbed and shed a tear.

_ Let her tell you, I’m in no position to do it _ she cleaned the tear_ Now get out of here, go back to your place, spend time with the ones you love _

After that she walked to the only part of the manor that was not into pieces.

_ What did she mean? _ I asked.

_ She’s old, she doesn’t know what she’s saying _ Said Gray with no interest.

Erza didn’t seem that convinced and stared the sleeping Lucy all the way to the station.

When we got into the train I started felling sick as always, so Erza grabbed Lucy and put her head in her legs for her to sleep.

I could tell she was worried for what Cordelia had said.

The sun was slowly rising when Lucy finally woke up. She looked to us confused, but then she shacked her head and woke up.

_ Erza, Wendy, can we speak _ Lucy said looking at the two girls.

_ Yeah sure... _ started saying Erza.

_ I mean privately _

The girls looked each other and nodded.

_ Okey, let’s go to the other wagon _

LUCY POV

Erza and Wendy walked with me in silence until we reaches the other wagon. Thankfully it was empty. I sat down, calmed myself, looked at them and started telling everything.

I tell them about Aragoth, about Anna, about her sacrifice, her burden. I told them what have I done, what I still needed to do, and what that mean.

I tried not to cry while speaking, but I failed. So did Wendy and even Erza’s eyes where watering.

_ You are lying Lucy-san _ Wendy said sobbing _ TELL ME IT’S AN AWFULL LIE OF YOURS! _

_ Wendy... _ Erza started saying.

_ It’s okay Erza _ I said looking at Wendy _ It’s true Wendy, I have a week or so _

_ Lucy-san, I don’t want you to leave _

Wendy hug me tight.

_ I don’t want to go either _

I looked at Erza, she was trying so hard not to cry, to be strong for Wendy.

_ Thank you _ I whispered to Erza while I tried to call Wendy down.

She nodded and looked away; I saw a tear in her check. A few minutes passed, Wendy calmed herself but didn’t stop hugging me. Erza cleared her through and said:

_ Are you sure there is no way to stop this _

_ Because of the nature of the spell... no _

She stood up and kicked the wagon floor. The cart shacked and a piece of wood was ripped of the floor.

_ What are you going to do? _ Erza asked looking at the sunrise.

_ I don’t know _

_ You should tell everybody _ Erza said what I was afraid of.

_ I know _ I broke down and cry _ But I just... I don’t know how _

Wendy looked at me with sorrow in her eyes and so did Erza. They both sat down next to me and hug me.

_ We are going to be with you _ Said Erza, I felt the tears of both of the girls in my clothes.

_ Thank you _ I said with a broken voice _ Can I ask you a favour? _

_ Of course Lucy _

_ Could you please tell everybody, I just can’t _ I said sobbing _ I have no courage, no strength, and I want to visit my parents grave one more time before I leave _

They looked at me, but then they nodded.

_ I’ll come down here _ I said when we reached the first station in Magnolia.

_ You will be back? _ Wendy asked worried.

_ Of course dear, I will say goodbye to everybody _

With that say I walked out of the wagon and saw the girls going to the boys.

ERZA POV

We walked to the cart were everybody was. Trying not to cry, not to crumble in the ground and go mad, choosing what worlds use.

When we reached them I couldn’t take it anymore.

I think that they realized that something was wrong when they saw me crying. The all mighty Titania was crying.

I guess everybody would’ve done the same in my situation.

But, oh lord, I hated that situation. I hated myself for being that weak. Who cares if I can take 100 monsters if I couldn’t even save a friend?

But what rip me apart was telling the guys. Their faces of sadness, sorrow and hatred devastated me. I had never seen Gray cry that much without hiding, and I’ve only seen Natsu breathless and heartbroken like that once, when Lissanna died.

This time was different though. Lissanna came back, Lucy wasn’t.

When we arrived to our station Natsu came out and started running, Happy tried to follow him but I stopped him, it was the right thing to do, he needed to sort thing out.

We had the worst part, tell the rest of the guild.

We arrived between cheers and screams. But our grief was evident, everybody started asking questions, to me, thinking that I was the one that wouldn’t break. But I did, I fall to the ground and started thinking.

In Lucy.

In my friend. My best friend.
