Marvel
Why do I love my fandom? Well, several reasons really. I think the first is that it’s so complex and you have literally an infinite amount of characters, all with different origins, personalities, problems, etc. You have everyone from the crazy, psychotic, death-obsessed Thanos to the patriotic, honorable, brave Captain America. You have international conflicts (the Kree-Skrull war), regret (Hank Pym on his creation of Ultron), divorce (Hawkeye, Hellcat, etc.), mental instability (Black Widow), rage (Loki, Wolverine, Hulk), but most of all, love. Love motivated the Avengers to Assemble. It motivated Thanos to kill billions of people across the universe (in a sick, twisted way), and it helped Hawkeye and Mockingbird defeat Crossfire.
I think that’s the second reason I love Marvel. The love it creates between its characters is magnificent. Even in the movies, the relationships created look and feel real, whether it’s the relationship between Loki and Thor, the love between Pepper and Tony, or even the bromance between Tony and Hulk (SCIENCE BROS‼‼‼). I love the relationship between Hawkeye and Kate Bishop, and I ship Jean Grey and Wolverine SOOOOOOOOO hard‼‼‼‼‼‼‼‼‼
A third reason that I love my fandom is that the possibilities are literally endless. That’s the great thing about comics. Anything can happen. #CoulsonLives. If someone dies, it doesn’t mean they stay dead. There are all kinds of weird, twisted ways for things to work out. Anything is possible; as long as it can be conceived, it can be done.
As for how I got into my lovely fandom, it all goes back to Black Friday at Wal-Mart in 2012. We just went to kind of B.S. around and watch all the people fight, so we were doing nothing and found ourselves over by a huge rack of DVD’s. My mom felt weird leaving with nothing, so we decided to purchase a DVD. My sister’s boyfriend had seen The Avengers before and said it was a good movie. So we picked it up. The next day, we watched it, but I confess I didn’t understand its pure genius until I read an Avengers fanfic that just happened to pop up on my Wattpad page. I was only a couple months old in the Wattpad community at the time, so I figured what the hell? I knew nothing about fanfics and so I got into it. Strangely, I really enjoyed the book and found out that the author actually went to my school! We became friends and she turned me into a fangirl. I remain one to this day. She inspired me to write Goddess of Love, which now has almost 20k reads‼‼ I think it’s safe to say, without Black Friday and fellow fangirls, I wouldn’t even care about Marvel.
