"So Esther called the wrong number and the number was yours? And you guys talked? After so many years and both of you are spending the summer at Paris? And this isn't what you call a coincidence?", Logan yelled with excitement, with his hands moving as he spoke.

"Chill bro." I rolled my eyes, knowing that inside I was excited too. I couldn't help but smile. I distracted myself by turning away and started packing my belongings into the luggage.

"No man. I'm serious. Do you think it's meant to be? Like could it be that she is the one?"

"You've never seen her."

"Yeah. It's not my fault I didn't go to the same school as you. Aye, why don't you call her?"

"Are you serious? She's gonna be like 'why did he call again? And I don't want anything to be weird around us. Especially you."

"Shut the fuck up. And just make up an excuse."

"Like?"

"You got her friend's number? The one you know? Uh..I can't out my finger on it. What's her name?"

"Milli? I don't have her number."

"Yeah! Then ask Esther for Milli's phone number and you can ask her some questions, like anything. Who knows, the two of you might patch up already by the time we get to Paris?"

"Yeah right. That happens in books and movies,"

"You should try dude."

"Aight."

I picked up my phone and entered my contacts.

Esther <3

"Woah. She's not even yours but you started to put hearts on her name, in your contacts. Someone is desperate."

"Shut the fuck, you're mad gay."

"Watch it bastard."

"Aight. Imma call her."

"Put it on speaker."

I waited for her to answer, while I noticed Logan checking his Instagram.

"Hello?", Esther spoke.

"Uh, hey Esther."

"Oh hi Edwin."

I smiled hearing her say my name.

"What's up?" I asked, not wanting to bore her.

"Not much. Just packing up."

"Cool." I took a deep breath.

"So why'd you call?"

"Why did I call? Oh..uh..why did I call?" I looked at Logan, desperately needing help.

"You don't know why you called? That's funny." I heard her giggle.

"Oh..uh, I wanted to call Milli. I haven't spoken to her for a long time. So I thought, why not start over? And we will be seeing each other hopefully in Paris, if we meet up."

"Oh cool. And you got a point. Hopefully, we will meet up. And I'll give the number to you. She's here right now and she said hi."

"Tell her I said hi too."

"What up Edwin? And I took the call, because Esther left." Suddenly the voice changed and I figured it was Milli's. I looked at Logan who was smirking and who was also probably thinking I'm an idiot.

"She left?"

"Hmm...why the frown?"

"Uh no. I was just uh..nothing!"

"Admit it Edwin. You didn't call Esther for my number. You wanted to talk to her. Don't worry. I understand."

"Milli."

"Yes, Edwin?"

"Does she still like me?"

"Aha! I knew it! What a smart bastard you are! Anyways I can't tell you for sure. But where are you staying in Paris?"

"In this apartment in Paris. I'll send you the address."

"Alright. I'll make sure, me and Esther book a room there. Don't worry. Everything will go fine. You guys need to get comfortable around each other like you used to. Even if it was 'just being friends."

"Thanks! Thank you so much!" I was filled with excitement.

"No problem. By the way, what's your flight number?"

"Flight 7."

"Oh my God! Ours too!"

"My seat is number 19."

"Oh. Well mine is 7."

I paused to know Esther's seat number.

"Well...what's Esther's?"

She giggled. And I noticed it wasn't her on the phone anymore.

"What's mine?" Esther had the phone again. I took a deep breath, thanking God.

"Nothing. By the way, you mind sending me a text of Milli's number?"

"Wow you guys talked but you didn't have time to get each other's numbers? And yeah. No problem."

"Okay."

"Bye."

Bye? No hearing her voice anymore. I didn't want to say bye.

"Bye. Take care."

She hung up.

A minute later, I received a test from her. I quickly checked her text and smiled.

I smiled and I was surprised that Milli's number was close to mine.

"Dude that Milli is one smart bitch." I heard Logan laugh.

"Shut up."

"No bro, I'm serious. She knows what she's doing."

"At least she's helping out."

I suddenly felt a vibration in my hands and checked my phone. It was a text from Milli.

Logan creeped onto my phone, beside me and laughed really hard he nearly choked.

"She's a smart ass," He yelled with laughter, "I need to meet this one."

"Hmm well. Let's go! We're getting late."

We picked up our luggage, called a cab and we were ready to head to the airport. Or you could say I was ready to meet Esther. Suddenly so many questions took over my mind.

Is she still the same as she was during middle school?

Could I be able to recognize her?

And so many more.
