Waking up to his dark haired best friend screaming like the bloody fire alarm had gone off wasn't exactly what Abel had in mind for an ideal Sunday morning.
He'd been having really vivid dreams lately and in nearly all of them he'd gone to a Paramore concert with backstage passes that he'd somehow managed to procure. He'd been this close, like nano seconds away, from meeting the only woman who always managed to make his heart race – Hayley Williams. He was about to give her hug that would have swept her off her feet and they'd continue to have secret trysts. Eventually, she'd realise that Abel was the man for her and they'd ride off into the highlands together, living the Bohemian dream.
But trust Rhiannon Alvarez to ruin the the one good thing he had going for him.
"Abel Teriyaki Keng!" She shouted, violently assaulting him with a pillow and knocking the breath out of him. "Wake the fuck up, you douche!"
He groaned in pain. Pillows were supposed to be soft and comfortable. Not hard and spiky. And they definitely weren't supposed to be wielded like fucking weapons. "That's not my real middle name! I don't even have a middle name!" He pointed out, flinching every time the pillow came in contact with his aching body.
"It doesn't matter. If I say your middle is Teriyaki, it is."
Abel never wanted to deck her as much as he did in that moment.
Rhiannon and him had been best friends for three years and those years had been the craziest days of his entire life so far. In short, she was a fangirl. A creature whose very purpose in life was to obsess over the characters she fell in love with and read as well as write copious amounts of fanfiction to deal with extreme withdrawal symptoms. A creature who was obligated to defend her favorite books to the point where the topic was altogether avoided.
Unfortunately, today just happened to be the day where her fangirl tendencies had reached their peak levels. Because today was the release date of one of the world's most anticipated books – The Cursed Child.
"Get. Up. Abby. I. Want. The. Book." She growled, punctuating each word with a pillow assault.
"Stop attacking me and I might have the energy to wake up." He said, wincing. She was literally five inches shorter than him. It was humiliating to get pushed around by her, a dwarf who had stopped growing after middle school.
Rhiannon finally stopped hitting him and he let out a sigh of relief. But that only lasted for a few seconds because she promptly collapsed on Abel's chest. Getting used to her random antics was just a part of being friends with her.
"Really?" He questioned exasperatedly.
"I'm tired," she murmured, tucking herself comfortably against him.
"You're tired?"
She swatted his chest. "Shut up."
"I thought this was the day."
"Oh yeah. Then get the hell up. I want to be first one, Abby!" She explained, making no effort to move herself.
Abel summoned all the strength he possessed (which was unfortunately not a lot) and pushed her off the bed. When Rhiannon began to violently protest, he quickly jumped out of the bed and hopped into the shower.
"Wear one of my shirts, Anon. You'd better be ready once I get back," he called out.
"Fine." It was crazy how he could imagine her sticking her tongue out at the door. A testament to how long they'd put up with each other.
Abel prepared himself for a day of immense boredom and hour long queues.
