Freya
Waking up to the sound of an obnoxious alarm clock is probably not the best way to go at 5:00 in the morning. I sit up and groan in pain from my aching bones, healing from yesterdays beatings. I didn't really think much about what happened last night. To me it kinda feels like i'm a robot. I cant remember the last time I saw my dad happy. About anything. He just changed after mom left.
All of a sudden I feel a hand placed gently on my shoulder. I turn around and see a tan body covered in different colored bruises: blue, purple, black, pink and even green. It looked like a canvas. My heart started to hurt. I slowly reached out and touched one. It was my twin brother Saige, standing there in his boxers and t-shirt, rubbing his eyes; one was lavender and the other was a baby blue. A tear slowly travels down my face from one eye and blood from the other.
"Hey whats wrong?" He says peering down towards me. "Why are you crying?"
"I-It's all my fault." I curl up into a ball on the edge of the bed and start to cry even more as he leaps forward, embracing me in a tight hug.
"Keep it down, he'll hear you." He whispers in my ear. "It's not your fault. We'll find a way to escape this nightmare." He squeezes a little tighter.
I knew he was lying. Yesterday, as soon as I got home from school, I went straight to sleep and forgot to make dinner. Saige was at work already. My dad came home drunk again, and I woke up to the sound of him screaming. Saige came home 5 minutes later, and he tried to pry my dad off of me. Then he got beat too.
A little while after crying together, we got ready for the next hell hole: school. I put on a black shirt, dark jeans and Air Forces. My wavy black hair flowed down my back. After I was done getting dressed, I made up my brother and I's bed since we shared a room. I walk down the long, grand marble staircase of our huge mansion and notice that my dad had already left for work. A small smile came upon my face, knowing he was gone. Saige came to the table snacking on a red apple with his pack clutching onto his shoulder.
"Hurry up before we mi-" I was cut off.
"miss the bus?" He finishes my sentence. " It's only 5:25 so we have," He pauses for a minute, looking at his watch. " 5 minutes." He smacks on the core of the apple.
A few minute later, we bolted out the front door. Racing each other was what we did all the time as laughter escapes our traps all the way to the bus stop. Good thing people on the bus are all the quiet people. As we ran closer and closer to the bus stop, we saw it pulling up, and yet it was still not in our grasp. The bus froze at the stop. Saige moved aside and swayed his hand, signaling me to get on first.
We sit in the first seat on the left behind the driver. It was a little louder than usual. I take a look around and notice that there are more people on the bus today. Hearing a voice say that their original bus broke down, I clenched the strap of my bag. I slowly glance over and noticed a certain someone named Brittany. I quickly ducked down and snuggled into Saige's chest. It was so warm.
"Um hey what's wrong Freya?" Saige says before he starts to turn around and look. He quickly jolts back down patting my head. "You can stay there as long as you want to, I don't blame you." he chuckles a little, closing his eyes. He never had to hide from anyone. He was the popular one while all the girls hated me cause they thought all the boys liked me, but I rarely payed any attention to boys.
