Part 8 - Wild Emotions

Elyza's POV:

I hold Octavia a little tighter by the end of our hug, just to subtle signal to her that my health is infact stable. Octavia let's go first and says to Alicia;

"Now I know you're okay, I'm going to get and check on Lindsey"

I turn to Alicia as soon as Octavia made her way into the house. As my eyes fell upon her, I found out that she was staring up at the stars with her back to me. I walked up to her and stood beside her, mirroring her stance. We stood in comfortable silence, whilst Alicia was deep inside her own thoughts. As a few minutes past I was drifting into my thoughts too.

'I was thinking why did they universe keep me on this earth? Millions of people died from this viral apocalypse and I was one of the lucky ones to live. And yes I say lucky because life should be celebrated to some extent! Before greed, politics and corruption run ever aspect of society but it was how you spent your time on earth that made it worth living. Me? I used mine helping people, soldiers that fought for our country. I wasn't a big fan of Wars, if you fight violence with violence the violence will never stop until everyone is dead except for 1 person. But my father was-"

Before I could finish my thought, I felt somethings smash against my whole body. My concept of reality was disorientated by my deep cognitive episode, when I finally felt the body collided with mine I recognised it immediately, the curve of her shoulders, then way she nuzzles her head into the crook of my neck, how our hip bones are at the same level and touch when we are millimetres apart.

I lift my hand up and place it on the back of her head as a sign of affection. I felt her hands grab my waist tighter and tears spilt onto my T-shirt. I pulled her at arms length and wipe her tears away with the pad of my thumb. 

I softly said to her " i know i scared you but I'm here alive. Come on lets go inside you need to rest", i grab her hand and lead her inside. 

When we get in to the house, i let go of Alicia's hand and place on her back. I said close to her ear  "Go and get some sleep, i'll check on you after i have seen Octavia and Lindsey". I watched her slowly make her way up the stairs until she reached the top of the stairs, when she looked back at me with such exhaustion. Then she disappeared from my view and headed towards her bedroom. 

I take my shoes off and place them, near the door. I head up stairs to see how Lindsey was doing, since i left her lying in the back of Octavia's truck bleeding from her injuries. I get outside the door of the room that Lindsey was resting in and knocked gently. 

"Come on in..." Octavia shouted in a hush. 

"Hey,  it's me. Just checking how you and Lindsey were  doing?" I said with genuine concern in my voice. 

"She's recovering slowly, she's been passed out since Alicia treated her a few hours ago. She's was really worried about you, you know?" 

I just looked into Octavia's eyes, unable to speak due the anxiety of the thought of Alicia being stressed over me.

"I was worried too, but i know you would make it back tho. You can handle yourself" Octavia says as she pats my back a little. 

"It was a close call, i know..." i trail off into my own thoughts. 

Sensing my agitation, Octavia changes the subject. "Anyway, i gonna I'm gonna head to bed, i need some rest and you should too. Its been a stressful day".
