Chapter 3.

Blake cupped one hand behind Kat's head, entangling it in her hair, and placed his other hand on her waist. Kat's hands laid on his neck and chest, his muscles strong and familiar underneath her small fingers. Every time she kissed him, she felt like the world was right. Even the stars shone down joy and love upon the couple in the field as they kissed each other with a desperation. The space between the two was almost non-existent. Kat hadn’t kissed Blake for over four months, since before he began dating Megan, and she needed his lips, the feeling of his body pressed to hers. She knew him, and he knew her, better than anyone she had been with. The two of them were fuel to the other's fire; each time he touched her, she knew that she was his and she couldn't let him go.

By the time they went back to the car, Kat felt as if she could hardly breathe if she didn't have him. She needed him; she had needed him all along. And now that she had him once again, her world was right.

Their fingers were laced together as Blake drove back to West Ham Street. When he parked, he turned to Kat. "I don't want you to go home," he stated.

"I wish I didn't have to," Kat replied quietly, "I'll see you in less than eight hours at school, though. We'll be okay."

Blake fixed his gaze on their interlocked fingers as he absentmindedly drew circles on Kat's wrist with his thumb. "Yeah, but will we?" he said, his voice barely above a whisper. Kat's brow wrinkled in confusion,

"What do you mean? Of course we will. We always are, Blake."

He looked up at her, leaned over, and kissed her. "I love you, Kat. You know that."

"Promise?" Kat teased. Blake smiled,

"I promise."

Her lips curved into a smile against his as she whispered, "I love you too, Blake."

The first thing that Kat noticed as she pulled into the student parking lot the next morning was Blake's car. The sleek silver BMW 3-series coupe always looked pristine and sparkling, a fact that Blake took pride in. He treated the car as if it was his child. Whenever Kat saw it in the mornings, she felt relieved because she knew that as long as she saw Blake, the day wouldn't be totally awful. And after the night before, she was even more excited to see him than usual.

As she walked to her locker, she glanced down the hall to see Blake talking with Miller and Devin, another guy on the team. A smile snuck onto her lips as she replayed last night's events in her mind, a flashback that was interrupted by Avery. "You look happy this morning. What's up, sunshine?" the blonde asked as she appeared at Kat's side.

Kat turned to her friend, "You know how you were talking about a hookup to get over Blake?"

"Yeah, why? Did you meet some hot stranger that swept you off your feet?"

Kat laughed, "No, but that would be an adventure for sure. I kind of… don't think I need to get over him as desperately as we thought."
