This little cycle kept going for months, and then years. Then came December. It was 2 years after they met. August was sitting at home, rereading an anatomy book Jax had given him last Christmas. That's when his phone rang.

"Hello?" August said, sounding sort of like a girl.

"Uhm.. This is Jax's sister. Jax was hit by a car today and just woke up. He's been calling your name for a while now.. Do you think you could come over and see him?" I could see the fear in August's eyes as Jax's sister spoke.

"O-Of course! I'll be there soon!" August hang up before she could say anything in response to him. August then made his way to the hospital and practically burst through the front doors, turning heads. He tensed a bit and walked up to the front desk.

"Excuse me... I'm here to see Jax Brennan." August said while anxiously playing with the end of his sweater.

"Sure. He's in room 283." August nodded and walked off. After a bit of wondering, he found the room. He lightly knocked on the door and peeked in.

"Uhm... This is Jax's room, right..?" Jax opened his eyes and looked over to the door, recognizing the voice.

"August..!" Jax called in a rasped voice. August walked in timidly. The only person in the room other than Jax was his sister.

Jax's sister had a striking resemblance to him. She had the same hair color and was about the same height as him. They also had the same facial features. I think her name wasss... I think it was Eve. Yeh! Eve Brennan!

"Hey Jax... How're ya feeling..?" August said with a pained smile. Jax had a few small cuts, a few bruises, and a cast around his right leg and left arm.

"Well, almost everything hurts..." Jax chuckled and then winced at something. He then tried to sit up, but Eve rushed over to stop him.

"Jax! The doctor said not to move around a whole lot!" Eve whined. August took a step forward.

". . . Fine. I'll sit still." Jax got a cute pouty face, and Eve let out a groan.

"Don't try the puppy pout face with me!" Eve said, sounding like a mother.

"Fiiine! But can you be a little nice and let August and me have some time to talk alone? Please, best-big-sister-in-the-whole-wide-world?" Jax asked, giving Eve a teasing smile. She rolled her eyes and went into the hall. August pulled one of the chairs near the window up to the bed and sat down.

"So.. How'd you get hit?" August said, trying to spark a conversation.

"I was walking around town with Eve and went to cross the street. Drunk driver on the road and they slammed into me." Jax said it all like it was a normal everyday thing.

    "Ouch... Did they get away?"

"Aw jeez! You're starting to sound like the cops now!" Jax said teasingly.

"Ha! Sorry.." August smiled but tears bubbled up in his eyes. He scanned Jax's bruises and cuts.

"Wait. August, are you... Crying?" Jax's smile faded as he watched August break down beside him.

"August... I- I need to tell you something. And you're probably gonna hate me for it." Jax looked into August's eyes.

"What could you ever do yo make me hate you of all people?" August sniffled.

"August, I know we've only been friends for a few years but... I think.. I think I'm in love with you." Jax's cheeks grew pink and he looked away from August.

"Wh- Jax I-" August's face had turned a deep shade of red. I covered my mouth as my eyes widened.

"I know... You probably think I'm a creep." Jax looked down, expecting August to get upset. But instead August started to get pale.

"Wait... August are you okay? You look a little-" that's when August just passed out. I started to get a little panicky.

"Oh crap-! Uhh..! Eve! Eve get in here!" Jax called, grabbing August's wrist and checked his pulse. Eve burst into the room and ran over.

"Oh shi--! What happened to him?!" Eve asked while checking August for any major wounds.

"I dunno! He just passed out! Go get a nurse or something! Now!" Jax snapped. Neither Eve or I had ever seen Jax like this. Eve nodded and ran out.
