"Do you want to go out?"

I'm silent for a few moments while processing what he said.

"What?" I finally say.

"Would you like to go on a date with me?"

"Wait....is this a prank? Are a bunch of your caveman buddies going to jump out and start laughing?" I ask skeptically.

"No, I'm for real," he replies, looking relieved that I haven't rejected him yet. "Yes or no?"

"Well, I guess first I should ask why."

He sighs. "You're hot, funny, sarcastic, hot, smart, hot----"

"Wow, okay," I smile a little. "You said hot, like, three times."

"Only 'cause it's true."

"Well, fine," I allow. "But it can't be this Saturday. I have to go somewhere. How about this Friday?"

"Okay," he says, grinning from ear to ear. He literally skips out of the library. Once he's gone, I smile in spite of myself.

Aaron's POV:

______________

I finish making out with Allie, a desperate girl from my pack. A sharp stab of pain shoots through me. I wonder what Iris is doing now, but stop myself.

Iris is a human, and therefore too weak to be my Luna. Her fragile body would be a weakness to the pack. Somewhere deep in my heart tells me that I'm wrong. I ignore it.

"Allie," I grumble, trying to pull her off of me. "I have to go. Get off."

"But, Aaron----"

"Now," I growl, using my Alpha voice.

She huffs and peels herself off of me. Giving me one last glare, she stomps off in her five inch pumps. I offer her a sarcastic smirk.

I decide to rifle through the mate bond and see what Iris is up to. I feel as if something bad is about to happen.

I look closer and see that she is talking to someone. I look closer and realize she's talking to Will---my beta. What the heck?

"Thanks for meeting me," he is saying.

"Yeah," she replies. "What did you want anyway?"

"Do you want to go out?" he inquires, looking eager and lovesick.

My vision turns red and all I can think is, I'll kill him, I'll fucking kill him, I'll rip him to shreds----

I wrenched myself out of her head and growled to myself, "That cheater, how can she even love someone else----I'll kill her, I'll strangle her---"

Abruptly, I stop my wolf from taking over. What the hell? I wonder, gripping the steel rail I am clenching. Why am I getting so worked up? She's just a worthless human, and I shouldn't have to worry about her.

I instantly feel better.

As I walk out of the janitors closet, my beta says through the pack link, "Alpha, we need you! Something is wrong with your mother!"
