If there is ever a thought in your head that you are prepared for the zombie apocalypse. Erase it now cause it's bullshit.
What I saw will forever be burned into my eyes. My dad was laying on the bed with his intestines all over the places. His face was still intact to see the last expression on his face before he died. Yet, as if that wasn't bad enough my mom was eating him. The slurping sounds were enough to make the strongest stomach vomit. I do not have a strong stomach. I couldn't puke now. I couldn't leave her like this. I couldn't move to do it. How do you kill someone who took care of you? Loved you and was there for you?
My breath hitched as she slowly turned towards me. Her eyes were black as night. No white showing. She looked demonic as she seemed to be studying me. Sniffing the air she got off the bed in a uncoordinated way. Like her bones were broken everywhere. She just kept watching me waiting for who knows what. I knew trying to talk to her was pointless cause it wasn't her.
Within a blink of an eye she was running towards me. Lunging for my throat like an animal. I rose the lamp in my hand and swung at her head. She ducked and stopped then approached at a different angle. What the absolute FUCK!
She didn't hold back this time as she lunged again. I swung at her again and hit my mark. The lamp left a dent on her left temple. Falling to the floor with a loud thud. For just a moment you couldn't hear anything. It was as If the world stood still. Them I felt big strong arms wrap around me. I tried to fight them off until he spoke to me.
"It's okay Sky. I got you, nothings going to happen anymore. I promise..." Jack kept whispering sweet promises into my ear but they just weren't going through. Finally I slumped down onto the floor and cried. I cried for mom and dad. I cried for the world taking them away. The world already took my parents before. Why would it take more?
It felt like I was sitting there for hours until I finally stopped. My body ached and all I wanted was my mom and dad. Though no more tears would come. I started to get up and realized that Jack's arms were around me. Looking back I saw his face was tear streaked too. His eyes met mine and I saw something I've never seen before. An emotion crossed his face that I couldn't read.
"We should probably go see how Aiden's doing? He's keeping watch from your room." Jack got up and offered a hand. I felt so weak and numb I took it. Leading me towards my room. I stopped right outside and Jack looked back at me.
"Who's Aiden?" I whispered.
"He's the other guy we grabbed at school." Jack laughed and pulled me through the door. The unknown guy AKA Aiden, was peeking out the window from behind the blinds. He looked over and gave a small smile.
"I would ask of you are okay, but I know your not. I'm sorry you had to do that. No one should have..." He trailed off and looked at me with concern.
"I'll be fine in time. But we can't stay here. We need to come up with a plan and I have one if you guys are willing to hear it. I won't make decisions without you guys since were a group now." I talked with a lot more confidence in my voice then I thought that was there. Looking at both of them they nodded their agreement. So I continued. "My parents set up emergency plans that if something big, like this, was to happen we would know what to do. There is an envelope with instuctions in my parents closet and weapons in my dads study. I'll go get the envelope and meet you in the study." I turned to leave before my confidence broke.
