Christmas Eve

It's Christmas Eve at the Goldstein's apartment and everyone's asleep, except for two. Newt Scamander sits in his brief case's shack, scribbling down a new species of demiguise he'd just discovered, while Y/n sits in the apartment's living room, hastily wrapping last minute gifts for a certain brown-haired wizard.

And all's well, until Newton's stomach growls. The ornate coo-coo clock strikes twelve. Time for a midnight snack. With a pat on his abdomen, Newt climbs out of his case in search for substance. Closing his bedroom door softly, so not to stir, Newt tip toes down the hall to the kitchen.

Y/n, unaware, continues her wrapping. She was almost finished now. She hadn't gotten him much, thanks to Newt's very vague requests for presents. So, she went off of what she knew about him. A clean, unused journal, with an ink bottle and quil, a new pair of shoes, and a brand new peacoat, similar to his original blue one, but f/c. After measuring the length and width of Newt's coat, Y/n began cutting the wrapping, and her finger with it.

With a slight jump, Newt looks to the frame of the doorway to the living room and sees Y/n sitting by the Christmas tree, inspecting her finger. Taking the cookie out of his mouth and grabbing a dish towel he silently moves behind her and wraps his arms around her. "What is my Little Occamy doing up so late?" He says, while wrapping her cut. She nearly jumps out of her skin at his sudden presence.

"Newt! I didn't hear you!" She turns around quickly, so as to hide the gifts behind her small frame. He chuckles in reply,

"Sorry, Love, I couldn't help it," he says through a half smile. His eyes avert to the wrapping paper and presents behind her, and she spreads her arms in attempt to shield his view. "What're you hiding, Little Occamy?"

"N-Nothing!" She stutters, with a slight blush on her cheeks. Newton gives her a more devilish grin, than his usual charming one, and her stomach begins to twist.

"Oh, really?" He moves closer and snakes his piano hands around her waist. Hip to hip, he dips his head to her ear, "I think you're lying to me." And with grace, he swiftly moves her to the side to find his half wrapped presents. Eyes instantly softening, he begins an apology, "Oh, Honey, you know you didn't have t-," and with the unexpected force of an erumpent, Y/n tackles Newt to the ground in a final attempt to keep the gifts a secret, but failing. In a heap on the floor, the duo groan in pain.

"I wanted it to be a surprise," Y/n mumbles into Newt's chest. He gives a chuckle and she feels the vibrations in his chest.

"Y/n, look at me." She obeys and looks into his emerald-blue eyes. "You're the only present I need," he says, and plops a sticky bow onto her head with a kiss on the nose.
