You Have No Proof it was Me
Chapter 2:
It’s been a few days since I met Cameron and learned that he lives down the street from me. The stuttering nerd is still my victim right now, I found out that we have all the same classes; it’s weird that I’m just realizing this now.
It’s a Sunday night and someone just knocked on my front door. Sliding down the stairs banister in my sweatpants and baggy t-shirt I open the door to a sobbing Sydney. I opened my arms and hugged her, dragging the poor girl inside.
“Awe what’s wrong, sweetie, what happened?” I asked softly, running my hand carefully through her knotted hair.
She began wailing out some incoherent reply and I sighed.
“I can’t understand you. Just go up to my room, I’ll be there in a minute.” I released her, giving her a slight nudge towards the stairs.
I made my way to the kitchen, grabbing two large spoons and a tub of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. I began rummaging throughout the rest of my kitchen I finally found the whipped cream and the chocolate and caramel syrups. I balanced the things in my arms and went upstairs back to my room where Sydney was still crying her eyes out.
“I brought food!” I looked at the crying mess on my bed and sighed, “Come on Syd, you need to calm down so you can tell me what happened.” I told her, shoving a spoonful of chocolate covered ice cream in her mouth.
Her eyes went wide as she let out a little choking sound before swallowing the ice cream. After she calmed down a little bit she wiped her face free from tears before turning to me.
“J-Justin broke up with me.” She croaked out, silent tears began streaming down her face.
I gasped, “What?” She must be heartbroken.
She pulled out her phone, hitting a couple of buttons, she handed it to me.
I’m breaking up with you. To be honest, I asked you out as a bet, I got a car for it. I never loved you, you were just an easy fuck. It’s not me, it’s you.
-Justin
“I told that asshole not to fuck with my friends. I told him.” I stood up and went to leave my room but Sydney grabbed my arm.
“No! Please don’t, Maycee, at least not tonight. I need you here.” I let out a sigh through clenched teeth.
I put my hands up to my face and rubbed my temples with my fingers. Sydney began rubbing my shoulders to calm me down from my rage. Taking deep breaths, I began slowly counting down from ten aloud. I know I have serious anger issues, I’ve been working on it but sometimes I can’t help it. I left the room angrily with Sydney at my heels. I went across the hall to our workout room and grabbed my gloves.
Slipping my gloves on, I walked to my punching bag and went crazy on it. After a few minutes of merciless kicking and hitting I leaned against the wall feeling slightly calmer. Sydney stood in the corner of the room watching me as if I were a ticking time bomb, to be honest, she isn’t far off.
“I won’t do anything tonight, but tomorrow he’s going to regret life.” I muttered, ripping off my gloves.
Sydney rushed towards me, wiping the sweat off of me with a tan towel and tied my hair up with the purple hair tie that was on her wrist. She led me to my bathroom, rubbing my back gently still sensing some anger on me. She’s always been the nurturing one of the group, while I’m just the crazy psychotic one with anger management issues.
