Albus' POV
It's been three and a half weeks and Davyte hasn't woken up yet, for the first few days, they let me and Lily stay in the hospital wing with James, mum, and dad. James graduated two years ago. But they are making me and Lily go to our classes now.
I headed to the hospital wing right after charms, I seemed to have missed something major because everyone looked like they were torn between smiling and crying. "What? What happened?" Lily asked and everyone's head turned towards us... Including Davyte's! But she seemed....out of focus. I instantly knew what happened. "She lost didn't she?" I asked and after a few moments of hesitation, mum finally came over and hugged us. "Davyte lost. She was strong." Mum sobbed. Davyte walked over to us blankly. "I have potions in a half an hour and I'm not in my uniform." She said.
I suddenly started to miss her rosy cheeks, her wide smile and her eyes that would twinkle when she was either close to laughing or crying. Even her crying seemed better than this. I hugged my sister, but she did not hug back. When I let go of her all she did was blink.
Cameron came in. He smiled, "Davyte!" He cheered then noticed our gloomy faces and his smile dropped. Davyte looked at him. "Good morning, Cameron." She said, "Cameron? You never call me Cameron." Cameron sad gloomy. "Maybe you two can help Davyte get her soul back. All hope is not lost. A part of her is still fighting to get her soul back." Madame Pomfrey said smiling weakly at us.
Davyte walked out the door, we ran after her. "Hey Fire. Where are you going?" Cameron asked trying to be cheerful. She seemed to mechanically turn her head. "To change, then to go to Potions. I recommend you do the same Cameron." She said. "She likes Potions, maybe that will help." Cameron whispered to me and followed Davyte.
Cameron's POV
I saw a boy, more specifically Daniel. The boy who supposedly loves Davyte. "Hey Davy." He said casually approaching us. I glared at him and wrapped my arm around Fire. Daniel returned the glare. "Hey bro, get your hands off my girlfriend. I'll beat you up." Daniel threatened. "Some boyfriend you are. Haven't you noticed that your girlfriend was gone for over a month." I shot back. Fire only stood. "We have to get to Potions. Come on Cameron and Daniel." She said and started walking. Daniel paused, "what happened to her?" He asked "she's fighting a battle inside her head. For her soul." I said "so, she won't consider me her boyfriend until she gets her soul back?" He asked "that's seriously what your worried about? Not that she is soul-less?" I asked but decided I didn't want to hear the answer, so I walked away, after Fire.
"Hey, Fire. What are you doing?" I asked, flopping onto the couch. Fire sat with so perfect posture that I thought she would have broken her back by now. "I'm doing my homework." She answered. "But Fire, that's not due for a week! Wouldn't you rather.... Play some pranks?" I asked, she loves pranks. "No. I'm doing my homework." She answered, darn it. This is harder than I thought.
The next morning I found Fire sitting at the desk, at 7:00 am! Usually we have to carry her out of the bed and splash her with at least three glasses of water before she wakes up. It used to be annoying but I miss it. I'm finally understanding the term appreciate the little things.
"Hey Fire. Why are you up so early?" I asked she looked at me for a moment. "Daniel wanted to tell me something." She finally said "what did he say?" I continued "he broke up with me." She said, clearly not even slightly sad. "I'll be right back." I said and marched up to Daniels dorm room. "Dude! Why'd you break up with her?" I said angrily. But he didn't seem to care. "She was boring." He said like that immediately makes the whole thing okay. "We are trying to help her win back her soul, your not helping. You know what? What fucking ever. If I completely lose her. I hope you know that it's partially your fault." I said and walked back out.
I almost lost hope on helping Fire. But on our way to Transfiguration she stopped. She did, she stopped and stared at the whomping willow for a while. Blankly at first but then she smiled! She smiled! "Davyte?" I asked gleaming she looked at me. Her smile stuck to her face but not quite Fire yet. " I need to go in there." She said simply, and I didn't even think about protesting about missing class. We managed our way up.
Class started.
Every once and awhile she'd get up walk to the door, freeze, then walk back and sit next to me. She didn't speak. She looked very focused but on nothing. Occasionally her face would almost flicker from blank to happy or from blank to sad.
Class ended.
Davyte looked at me. "I can't believe I got up before 10:00." She said with a stupid smirk on her face.
