My father and mother were always very very strict. My father, beta to the alpha in our pack was a very wise man. I never doubted his opinions, though my brother, slander, did. Weird name? Of course, my mother was full of them. Her name being Madeline she didn't get to have the name she originally wanted but could never change it. My mother always told me not to go messing around in the woods by myself. I never listened, the woods was my place. A very special place.

To the humans we all looked normal, they didn't understand why we all stayed together and many humans tried to date some wolves. It's very very rare a human is a wolf mate.

Speaking of mate, I'm 18 and the moon goddess hasn't granted me a mate. The whole pack could sense my loneliness, even the alphas son who has been my best friend since birth, dalton. The elders used to joke about us becoming mates but I would never see it. Since he mated Georgia, a petite brunette who is so so sweet.

Since it is mate season, which is usually when people find their mates, unmated males will go to packs all around the world to find the special one.

Our pack is hosting a ball sort of idea you keep dancing till you find the one. And if you don't, you'll have to search another time.

The moon goddess didn't grant me the beautiful features of my mother, brown hair, lightest green eyes that you'd get lost in, tall slim frame and a smile to kill.

I was born with gold hair, Emerald green eyes that were so dark they were mistaken as a different color. I had a short frame nearly 5"2 and my smile was no where near perfect.

"Kalien!" My name was shouted from down the steps.

"Yes dad?" I questioned wondering why he's calling me.

"Your mother and I have a present for you!" He joyfully laughed as I bolted down the steps.

My mother stood in a simple grey floor length dress, my father in a tux along with my brother.

I forgot the ball was tonight! Shit!

"Oh man," My face heated red leaving the idea I forgot.

"Knew you would forget," My brothers voiced chirped ending in me glaring at him playfully.

My mother pulled out a dress that would catch the eyes of anybody. It fit my body just right and although it wasn't the most magical gown. It was from my mother and I wouldn't trade anything.

(Picture at top or side, don't mind the face that is not what kalien looks like.)

It was simple, yet so fitting. I thanked her so rushed and ran up the steps. Running through my room placing the dress down and quickly showering across the hall. Stepping out of the shower I dry off quickly placing my towel in the bin. I look in the mirror and blow dry my hair. Btw I'm completely naked. Oops anyone do that? I apply mascara and eyeliner to pop my eyes but that's all since my skin is clear.

I poke my head out of the bathroom door making sure no one sees me before I run into my bedroom across from the bathroom breathing out a breath I was holding from fear of being caught naked.

I'm really hoping to find a mate. Everyone here almost has one but then again, people from all around the world, she wolves as well are coming tonight. I shook the thought out of my head and lotions my legs and put my dress on carefully then putting on sliver heels.

"I'm coming!" I shouted as the car horn sounded from outside of our home.

I walked down the steps and put the door smiling at the car and pacing elders who lived next door.

As I climbed in the car my parents smiled at me telling me I looked amazing. I returned the favor jokingly.

As we pulled up to the giant pack house I couldn't help my smile ear to ear at everyone's dresses, so beautiful.

I'm not sure where my confidence came from but I instantly marched out of the car with my mother acting as if she was a teen herself.

We walked side by side into the pack house greeting the Alpha and Luna with respect, although the Luna pulled me over quickly.

"Yes Luna?" I question curiously looking at her gentle brown eyes.

"Alpha Valdus has his eye on you," She giggled surprising me.

"I'll be sure to steer clear, Luna, thank you," I giggled back admiring her kindness.

Walking over to my father he greeted me and walked to a spot where mates wolves were assigned. Leaving me totally alone as my brother followed in que with him.

My eyes wandered as the alpha talked about how the dance was to go.

All of us she wolves would stand in a single line opposite the men and as the music played we would slowly move to the men, if you didn't feel the feeling you were supposed to, you move on to the next. The feeling? Can only ever be described as instant want. A pit in your stomach is trying to dissolve an elephant. As soon as you feel that. You may leave the dance floor, with your mate. Nobody else.

All of us got into a line, I didn't have friends here since people were too scared of me. I'll explain later. But I did see my bestfriend waving me a good luck.

As soon as the music played the she wolves moved to the men, we did a dance around them inspecting them, and they did too. It was like a festive dance. We grabbed hands and spun each other in a circle. This wasn't the one. A couple left the floor giddy.

I smirked planting a kiss on his cheek before moving to the next, the same scenario, same story. Not the one, as the fifth one rolled around I seemed the get nervous and uninterested in this dumb dance. The whole floor could feel my emotions.

Until I moved to a new target. The smell intoxicatingly amazing. The eyes that stared back at me made me freeze until I moved and inspected him, as soon as our hands touched for the dance we both knew. We both froze as everything seemed to stop. I realized then we were the only two on the floor still. Everyone had been mated today which was a very big celebration this year. But this guy as I reconfigured as alpha, alpha Valdus. He stared at me long and hard before pulling me all the way out side and punching the ground.

"I didn't think I'd find a mate today. That's why I came," he angrily spoke. My heart faltered.

"You can always reject me," I whispered. Praying he would never.

"I can't," He laughed and looked at me silently.

"Why not? It's easy you just take my hand an-" I was cut off by his loud laugh. My eyes peeked up in confusion.

"And have no luna for my pack? After rejection I get no other mate," He scoffed as if I was a mere omega she wolf.

"You want me don't you?" I smirked looking up at him. The weather was getting cold and I was in a dress with a jacket hanging over my shoulders.

"What if I don't want you?" He laughs loudly making me shiver quietly under the thin jacket I decided to wear, but with a dress? Am I dumb?

"Then I'll go, but don't think like that, everybody needs somebody," I replied back boldly.

"That's where you're wrong kitten, I need nobody."
